Weekly Points Race Sponsored by Midwest Walnut of Willow Springs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It was a beautiful fall night at Legit Speedway and the fans got to enjoy some great racing thanks to Midwest Walnut of Willow Springs.  After several weeks off the track, the man known as “Big Sexy”, Scott Crigler from Alton, MO was back on the dirt in the late model feature.  Crigler’s #12 was running to perfection and led the 20 lap feature from start to finish. The win moves Crigler inside the top 8 in the points. Crigler was happy to be back on the track again and was equally happy to have his son competing for his 2nd week in a row in a modified class. Scott Crigler finished 3 seconds ahead of Mark Oberkramer from Broseley Mo. That 2nd place finish moves Mark into the to 5 in the points race.  #33 Kaleb Stolba maintains his lead in the points race with a 3rd place finish.. #41 Hunter Duren from Yellville Ar and #4A Danney Atkinson from Lebanon round out the top five finishers in a field of 10. That fourth place finish moves Duren just outside the top 10. It is the top 10 drivers who receive a trophy and points money at the end of the season.

In the IMCA Modified division, #73 Shawn Walsh from Ashflat Ar came away with the win. Walsh started in the second row in a field of  11 cars and was able to overtake the leader on lap 7 of the 20 lap feature. He never relinquished his lead. 2nd place went to Tyson Franks of Floral, Ar. 3rd went to the points leader Daryl Hay from Doniphan, Mo. After the race, in  the tech barn, Cam Rank, who is sitting 2nd in the points standings, used a section of the rules to ‘claim’ the shocks off Daryl Hay’s car. We will see how that turn of events affects both drivers next week.

There was no Super Stock division on Saturday.

In the USRA B Mod division it was another week filled with caution flags, as the first six laps rendered as many cautions. After that initial run of cautions, the race finally began to progress and it was #39 Stephen Muilenburg of Sparta coming away with the win.. Stephen led that race from the start. That win moves Muilenburg into 8th position in the points.  #8 Michael Maggard from Springfield, MO finished in 2nd. #14 Shawn Strong from Clever, MO finished in 3rd.  #86 Kanyan Methvin from Yellville Ar finished 4th and #71 Jason Snodgrass from Mountain Home finishedin 5th. Carl Murphy of Caulfield Mo still sits atop the points race  ahead of Dustin Shaw from Birch Tree.

The Hobby Stock race was a great race as the teenager from  Corning Ar, Kendal Prince, raced his way from the 7th row all the way to the winners circle. Prince got out front on lap number 15 as a battle was going on in front of him between Kevin Collins of West Plains and Clyde Shearin Jr.  At times, Darren Fox was in the fray as well. While the other drivers were jockeying for position coming out of turn four, Prince saw an opening and shot to the front. Once there, the young man never looked back. It was a pack of previous winners right behind him, as #2 Kevin Collins of West Plains finished 2nd, Clyde Shearing Jr finished in 3rd.  Six time winner Darren Fox finished in 4th place and Richard Carson of Mountain Home finished in 5th.  Going into the final points race of the season, Darren Fox has the lead, but Corey Lambert and Kevin Collins are both within striking distance.

Watch later this week as we release the points standings going into the final points race. The top 10 finishers in the points race are all rewarded with a check. We will let you know who’s close and who’ moving in the next release.

In the Bone Stock division it was  #22 Stone Peterson of West Plains with his 3rd win of the season. Ethan Rushin finished in 2nd place and Bailey Harlin finished in 3rd.

This weekend will mark the final points race of the season sponsored by Snap on Tools. Gates will open at 5. Hot laps at 6:30. Races at 7. General Admission for adults is $12. See the website for additional pricing.
