Rain Delay Didn’t Dampen the Action at Legit Speedway

A good crowd was on hand for the racing over the weekend at Legit Speedway Park in West Plains.  Temperatures were warm at race time but the crowd got to enjoy a great night of racing.

In the Mayfield Auto Repair UMP DIRTcar Late Model Race it was Wendell Wallace (#6M) of Batesville, Arkansas taking the checkered flag and claiming the $1,000 check. Wallace, who on the poll led from start to finish. Justin Wells (#98) of Aurora, MO finished in 2nd and Austin Rettig (#94) of Sikeston finished in 3rd.

In the ServiceMaster IMCA Modified class fans saw Mark Norris (#32N) of Searcy, Arkansas come away with the win. Norris raced his way up from the 5th row start to claim the checkered flag. Logan Martin (#8M) of West Plains, MO finished in 2nd place and Tyson Franks (#F1) of Floral, Arkansas finished in 3rd.

In the Patriot Race Engines Super Stock event, it was (#13) Chris Piper of West Plains, MO with the win.  Piper, who started in 4th place, quickly raced his way to the front and proved to be too much for the field of 6 on Saturday night. Robby Arnold (#35) of Marmaduke, Arkansas finished in 2nd and John Kelly (#35XXX) of Birch Tree, MO finished in 3rd.

The Reliable Chevrolet USRA B-Mod division put on a great show for the fans. Often times 3 wide coming out of turn 4 fans were entertained by the hard driving. At the checkered flag it was Logan Martin (#36M) of West Plains crossing 1st.  Rustin Miller (#44) of Houston, MO finished in 2nd.  3rd place went to Kaden Miller (#34) of Cabool, Missouri.

Fans got to see a great show from the Global Steel Buildings Hobby Stock division as the drivers battled hard for 20 laps.  Chuck Russell
(#88R) of West Plains won the race. Kendall Prince (#76) or Corning, Arkansas, who is the current point’s leader, charged his way through the field to finish in 2nd place and retain his points lead.  Kevin Collins (#2) of West Plains, MO finished in 3rd. Prince and Collins have battled it out nearly every week at the front of the field.

The Domino’s Pizza Bone Stock race saw a field of 11 entries for the
12 lap main feature. Corey Howell (#73) of Huntsville, Arkansas was declared the winner after Stewart Pringle (#17) of Willow Springs, who crossed the finish line first, was disqualified in the post-race tech inspection for the second week in a row. Ethan Rushin (#14JR) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri finished in 2nd and Davey Chaney of Birch Tree, Missouri finished in 3rd.

Glenn’s Truck Repair and Cockrum Auto Sales were the sponsors for Saturday evening’s event.

Racing resumes this Saturday, July 16th with weekly points racing as well as the Side-By-Side races and Youth Go-Kart events. Racing this weekend sponsored by Bracket Service Center. Gates open at 5. Hot Laps at 7. Races at 7:30.
