A Crowd of over 1500 at Legit Speedway’s Firecracker Twin 40’s July 4th.

Super Stock 40 lap winner Timothy Brown from Stoutland, Mo
The Super Stock 40-lap feature saw #26M Donnie Miller of West Plains on the pole with Timothy Brown of Stoutland sitting next to him on the front row.  There were multiple cautions and a lot of bent metal, as the Super Stock drivers had trouble with the unfamiliar slick conditions. #111 Timothy Brown led the race for all 40 laps to take the $2500 winners check. This race was filled with excitement as Donnie Miller, #28 Bobby Bryant, #9V Carmon Vincent all raced side-by-side throughout much of the race. #L18 Landon Clinton, who started in 6th moved his way up as high as 4th until he and G1 Tony Anglin got together in turn 3 on lap 19. That altercation sent Clinton to the pits and when he returned he was at the back of the pack. During the remaining laps, Clinton managed to race his way back through the field to a respectable 9th place finish. It was an exciting race and the fans definitely got their money’s worth, with Timothy Brown coming away with the win.

Shawn Walsh from Ashflat, AR finds the winners circle in the IMCA Modified 20 lap feature. Walsh, in that #73 led the field from  start to finish as he jumped out front from his outside front row starting position and never saw another car in front of him all night except to lap the field. There was a lot of racing going on behind the leader, and a number of cautions.  #27B Matt Barry was racing in 3rd place when he got knocked out of the race in turn 4 on lap #12.  #7X Mikey Bell put on a show as he raced his way from a #11 starting position to finish 3rd in the field.  #9 Brint Hartuick jumped out on the green flag and quickly established himself in 2nd where he remained to the finish.

JC Morton from Springfield was the winner of the USRA B Mod 40 Lap feature. JC and Logan Miller of West Plains battled it out for 40 laps in some great wheel-to-wheel action. Slick track conditions didn’t keep this division from turning laps as they managed only two cautions during the race, at laps 14 and 25.  Logan Martin, the teenager from West Plains was on the pole for the feature, and the two young men, Morton and Martin put on a great show for the fans.  In the end, JC Morton found his way to victory lane and that $2500 check.

In the Late Model feature, Wendall Wallace made an appearance for the second week in a row. Wallace was changing out engines in his 6M car and was late arriving but had called ahead for the draw to let race officials know he was on his way. He missed the Heat Race and had to start at the back of the pack in the feature. Scott Crigler, from Alton was on the pole in the late model division and had to make a quick switch as he had just crossed the finish line in the USRA B Mod 40 lap feature and then had to get in his late model to start the next race. Jason Hughes from West Plains was sitting on the outside of row one with Crigler and jumped out front to lead the late model pack.  Wallace put on a show, passing the entire field in the 20 lap feature and finally catching up to Hughes on the last 2 laps but was unable to overtake the young man from West Plains. However, as fate would have it, when #7 Hughes went to tech, he was disqualified, moving #6M Wendall Wallace into the winners circle for the second week in a row at Legit.

Scott Crigler finished 2nd and 18 year old Kaleb Stolba finished 3rd in the Late Model feature.

During intermission the fans were entertained by a fireworks show that thrilled the crowd.
