Wendall Wallace Takes The Checkered Flag at Legit Speedway This Weekend.

Former Show Me 100 champion Wendell Wallace takes the checkered in the Late Model Feature at Legit Speedway. Wallace, who took 2nd at Clarksville Tennessee on the 25th, got rained out this weekend at his scheduled stop in Paducah for the $10,000 to win and  decided to come back to West Plains. The hot shoe put on quite a show for the fans and proved why he is a racing legend, taking his first trip to victory lane this season. He started in the tailback spot in his heat race and earned a spot on the front row for the feature.  In the feature, Wallace jumped out front early and stayed there for the duration of the race. Wallace said he was glad to see the track back in good shape and praised the new owners for the progress they have made in bringing racing back to life in West Plains. Kenny Barker of Poplar Bluff, maintains his lead in the points race by 8 points over Brad Looney of Republic.

In the Super Stock Division it was Donnie Miller in the 26M car taking over the points lead as he also claimed the checkered flag for his second race in a row.  Miller, the elementary school principal in West Plains, started outside 1st row and took the lead in the 2nd lap and never looked back, leading for the remainder of the 20 lap feature. That win moves Miller 22 points ahead of Landon Clinton in the points for the season at Legit Speedway.
In victory lane, Miller was quick to thank his family and his racing crew for another victory.

In the Hobby Stock Division at Legit Speedway it was Jessie Shearin coming away with the win.  Shearin, of West Plains, was in the 23A car. After losing some gears in the heat race, his team pulled together the parts to get Jessie back on the track. Starting in the 7th slot in the 20 lap feature, Shearin moved up to third pretty quickly and was able to take advantage of two cautions in the last 3 laps and moved into 1st place in lap 19 and held on for the win.  Corey Lambert of West Plains earned enough points with his 5th place finish to maintain his point lead in the Hobby Stock Division, 53 points ahead of Allen McChesney or Squires.

It was Carl Murphy of Caulfield, MO  taking the trophy in the USRA B Mod division. Murphy took the lead in lap 7 and never relinquished his first place spot during the remaining 13 laps and was first to see the checkered flag.  With the points leader Rustin Miller, unable to make the race due to engine trouble, Murphy takes over the points lead by 26 points over Dustin Shaw of Thomasville, who moves into 2nd in the points standing. Rustin Miller of Houston drops from 1st to 3rd.

In the IMCA Modified division it was a father-son battle to the checkered flag as Mark Norris and his son Clay battled it out for twenty laps with dad coming away with the trophy this week.  In some great wheel-to-wheel action this father-son duo from Searcy, Ar.  put on a great show for the fans.

“It’s the greatest thing on earth to get to race with your son”, said Mark Norris. “It’s even better when I win”, he said with a chuckle.

Daryl Hay of Doniphan remains the points leader in the IMCA Modified class, leading Cam Rank of Fairdealing, Mo by 19 points.
