Large Crowd on hand for Logger Appreciation Night at Legit Speedway

A large crowd was on hand for the 2nd annual Logger Appreciation Night at Legit Speedway Park in West Plains. Temperatures were warm at race time but the crowd got to enjoy a great night of racing.
In the Mayfield Auto Repair UMP DIRTcar Late Model Race it was Josh Hughes (#17) of West Plains taking the checkered flag and claiming the $1,000 check. Hughes, who started in 3rd quickly got in the lead and once there, never relinquished. Justin Wells (#98) of Aurora, MO finished in 2nd and Scott Crigler (#12) of Alton finished in 3rd.

In the SerivceMaster IMCA Modified class fans saw Stephen Muilenburg of Sparta come away with the win. Muilenburg (#39) who has raced every season since the speedway opened in West Plains. Muilenburg had a wire-to-wire win in the event. Robby Arnold (#21) of Marmaduke Arkansas finished in 2nd and Shawn Walsh (#73) of Ash Flat Arkansas finished in 3rd.

In the Patriot Race Engines Super Stock event, it was (#28) Bobby Bryant of West Plains, MO with the win. Bryant, who started in 4th place, quickly raced his way to the front and proved to be too much for the field of 11 on Saturday night. Landon Clinton of Willow Springs, MO finished in 2nd and Chris Piper of West Plains finished in 3rd.

The Reliable Chevrolet USRA B-Mod division brought their A-game to the track as the front-runners put on a great show for the fans. Often times 3 wide coming out of turn 4 fans were entertained by the hard driving. At the checkered flag it was Bobby Ratterree (#20) of Mountain Grove crossing 1st. Logan Martin (#36) finished in 2nd. The young man from West Plains raced his way through the field, after starting in 8th, to take the runner-up honors. 3rd place went to Rustin Miller (#44) of Houston Missouri who gained three positions on his 6th place start.

Fans got to see a great show from the Global Steel Buildings Hobby Stock division as the drivers battled hard for 20 laps. Jesse Shearin
(#38) of West Plains led for 18 laps in the race but was challenged all night long by Kevin Collins (#2) of West Plains. But with 2 laps to go, it was Kendall Prince (#76) of Corning Arkansas racing his way up through the field to take the lead. Prince, who started in 7th, overtook the leader on lap 19 and took the checkered flag for the 5th time this season. Kevin Collins finished in 2nd and Jesse Shearin ended up in 3rd at the finish.

The Domino’s Pizza Bone Stock race saw a field of 12 entries for the
12 lap main feature. Stuart Pringle (#17) of Willow Springs led the race from the start all the way to last lap where he lost power in turn 2 giving Ethan Rushin (#14) of Poplar Bluff the opportunity to take the lead and grab the checkered flag. James Brown (#35) of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas finished in 2nd and Pringle was still able to cross the finish line in 3rd.

Midwest Walnut of Willow Springs was on hand with a lumber competition. Entrants were to guess the number of board feet of lumber on the truck load of logs. It was Dee Kelly with the winning estimate, getting within 47 board feet of the over 3594 board foot load.

Racing resumes this Saturday, June 25th with a $500 to win Bone Stock Feature and racing sponsored by Mega Motor Sports of West Plains. The 2nd Side-by-Side race and Youth Go-Kart race will be added features at Saturday nights event. Gates open at 5. Hot Laps at 6:30. Races at 7.
