FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The weather finally cooperated with a perfect night for drivers and race fans at the weekly point race at Legit Speedway. This week’s sponsor was Big Country 99 of Houston, Mo.

A crowd of around 1000 race fans were on hand for a perfect night on the dirt, and the 3/8 Legit Speedway red-clay oval was in top condition, giving both fans and drivers a great night of entertainment.

In Hobby Stock it was Darren Fox #88 of Mtn. Grove, MO coming away with the checkered flag. After starting in outside 2nd row, Fox was able to move ahead of the rest of the field. He was followed by #23S Jessie Shearin, #2 Kevin Collins, #79 Corey Lambert and #51 Blaine Mattey, all of West Plains, MO.

In the USRA B-Mod group it was #24T Toby Thompson (picture not shown) getting the win after he and #44 Rustin Miller caught up to traffic in turn 3 of the final lap and Miller was cut off in traffic to give Thompson the opportunity to take the lead. It was an excellent race and both drivers drove hard to the finish.  Placing 3rd was #39 Stephen Muilenburg followed by #2M Carl Murphy and $44G Gene Sisco.

The Super Stock division saw a 3-way battle throughout the 20 lap feature between #38 Jessie Shearin, #41 Dakota Frost and #13P Chris Piper. With several lead changes and position changes within the top three, at the finish it was #41 Dakota Frost of West Plains, MO taking the checkered flag and the $300 check. He was followed across the line by #38 Jessie Shearin, of West Plains, Mo, #13P Chris Piper of West Plains, Mo, #96N Jeff North and #31K Cody Kelly of Birch Tree, MO rounding out the top five.

The IMCA Modified class saw a 20 lap brawl as the winner, #D97 Daryl Hay of Doniphan, MO (no photo available) managed to outdrive the field to the checkered flag. Hay, who started the 20-lap feature in 7th position, was followed by #32N Mark Norris, of Searcy, Ar,  #33 Stephen Muilenburg, of Sparta, MO,  #2SLY Shane Kelley  of Jonesboro, Ar,  and #M93 Matthew Rodgers of Doniphan, Mo.

Gary and his crew are first class! Very nice people and they are definitely serious about making the track go! They are definitely living up to their " legit" name. They have studied the IMCA rules!! They are checking EVERYTHING to make sure everyone is legal”, said one of the IMCA Modified participants.

In the $1000 to win Late Model Main event it was pole-sitter  #14 Brad Looney of Republic, Mo, with a wire-to-wire race. During over half the race #33K Kaleb Stolba, the 18 year old from Willow Springs, Mo and #13 Joey Smith battled back and forth for 2nd place, but Stolba spun out, 1st in turn 2, then again in turn 3 and later spun out again to end his night. #13 Joey Smith of Pomona, Mo finished in 2nd followed by #11D Hunter Duren of Yellville, Ar. , #11 Tim Mevert of Marion, IL and #1S Shawn Knuckles from Poplar Bluff, Mo.
