Farmer Appreciation Night a Big Success at Legit Speedway

A large crowd was on hand last Saturday at Legit Speedway for the 2nd Annual Farmer Appreciation Night. It was a regular points night and all six classes were in action with a great field of drivers and cars.

UMP Late Model sponsored by Mayfield Auto Repair of West Plains – Jesse Stovall (00) of Billings Missouri rolled into Legit Speedway and cruised his way to a wire-to-wire win. Stovall jumped out front early and continued to extend his lead throughout the race. Fans enjoyed a clean race as Kaleb Stolba (33K) finished in 2nd and Brad Looney (14) of Republic finished 3rd .

IMCA Modified Sponsored by Service Master of West Plains – 21 drivers showed up Saturday night in the IMCA Modified division. Robby Arnold (21) of Marmaduke Arkansas started on the 5th row and raced his way to the front of the field on lap 5 and kept that lead for the remaining 15 laps. Shawn Walsh (73) of Ashflat Arkansas finished 2nd and Tyson Franks (F1), who started on the 6th row finished in 3rd.

Super Stock Sponsored by Patriot Race Engines – Fans enjoyed an excellent Super Stock race as Landon Clinton (18) of Willow Springs and Chris Piper (13) of West Plains battled it out at the front of the field. In the end, it was Clinton taking the checkered flag for the 2nd time this season. John Kelly (35XXX) from Birch Tree raced his way from the back of the field to finish 2nd and Piper finished in 3rd.

USRA B-Mod Sponsored by Reliable Chevrolet – A field of 19 B-Mods hit the track and put on a great show for the fans. Toby Thompson (24) from Mountain Grove and Kris Jackson (65) of Lebanon battled it out for the top spot but Thompson went out of the race on lap 16 and it was Jackson taking the checkered flag. Logan Martin (71M) of West Plains battled his way through the field, starting outside on the 5th row, to take the 2nd place spot.  Shawn Strong (14) of Clever Missouri, who started in the pole position, finished in 3rd.

Hobby Stock Sponsored by Global Steel Buildings – The Hobby stock race ended with three of the top five finishers being disqualified in the post-race tech inspection. After the dust settled in tech, it was Kendall Prince (76) of Corning Arkansas coming away with the trophy. Will Smart (26S) of West Plains Mo finished in 2nd. And Kaleb Herring (8H) of Hardy Arkansas finished in 3rd.

Bone Stock Sponsored by Domino’s Pizza of West Plains – Bone Stock is the entry level class at Legit Speedway and has continued to grow each week over the past season. This week we saw 8 Bone Stock drivers on the track. It was a familiar driver taking the win as Bailey Harlan (31) of Pomona, MO took the checkered flag. Kenny Underwood (16) of Birch tree finished the race in 2nd and former winner Davey Chaney (22) of Birch Tree finished in 3rd.

During the Intermission the Houston All Star Cheerleaders entertained the large crowd that had taken advantage of discounted ticket prices for Farmer Appreciation Night.
There are no races this weekend at Legit Speedway. Racing will resume on May 21st  with a special $1000 to win Hobby Stock event and a special feature ‘side by side’  and youth Go Kart races. Gates will open at 5. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 and races at 7.
