Wendall Wallace Takes the Checkered for the 2nd time this season at Legit Speedway.

UMP Late Models – Sponsored by Mayfield Auto Repair of West Plains - Racing legend Wendall Wallace rolled into town on Saturday at Legit Speedway with his sights set on his 2nd win in 3 weeks. Wallace started on the second row but soon found himself in front and never looked back. It was Jesse Stovall of Billings, Mo finishing in 2nd, and Kaleb Stolba of Willow Springs earning his 3rd third place finish of the season, putting him in the points lead thus far.

IMCA Modifieds – Service Master of West Plains – Starting on row 4, Robbie Arnold of Marmaduke AR came away with the win in the IMCA Modified class. Arnold ran back to back races, finishing 2nd in Super Stock in the race prior. Mike Stiegel (17) of Wheatland, MO raced his way up from the 5th row to claim 2nd place. 3rd place went to last year’s IMCA Modified winner Daryl Hay of Doniphan. The field of 14 put on a great show for the fans.

Super Stock – Sponsored by Patriot Race Engines - The Super Stock field put on a great show for the fans with Robbie Arnold of Marmaduke, AR and Sundance Keepper of Miller Missouri battling it out in a race that come down to the wire. Keepper was able to just nose out Arnold at the finish for the win, as fans were excited to see the race to the finish. It was Donnie Miller of West Plains finishing in 3rd on the night.

USRA B Mod – Reliable Chevrolet – A field of 15 hit the track in the USRA B Mod competition. Toby Thompson (24T) of Mountain Grove earned the pole position and never relinquished his spot, with a wire – to – wire win. Rustin Miller (44) of Houston, MO finished in 2nd place and Bobby Ratterree (20) of Mountain Grove finished in 3rd. They put on a great show for the fans with good hard racing all night long.

Hobby Stock – Global Steel Buildings- Hobby Stock division saw a large field as 20 cars made it out for the evening. Donnie Miller (26) of West Plains earned the spot out front and in 20 laps of excellent racing, fans go to enjoy quite a show. Miller, Kevin Collins (2) of West Plains, and Kendall Prince (76) of Corning, AR gave the fans a great show. It was Kendall Prince pulling out in front to ultimately take the checkered flag for the 2nd time this season. Donnie Miller (26) of West Plains finished in 2nd and Kevin Collins (2) of West Plains finished in 3rd.

Bone Stock – Domino’s Pizza – The Bone stock feature saw a new face on the track as Kenny Underwood make his debut. The Bone Stock drivers put on a great show for the fans for the 12 lap feature. As the field rounded turn 4 on the final lap, Ethan Rushin (14JR) of Poplar Bluff got spun around by Davey Chaney (22) of Birch Tree. Chaney was black flagged for rough driving and the last lap was repeated. In a one lap sprint to the finish it was Ethan Rushin (14JR) from Poplar Bluff, MO just beating out Tony Huston (69) of Thayer at the finish line. James Brown (35) from Mammoth Spring Ark finished in 3rd. Kenny Underwood finished in 4th in his season debut.

The evening was sponsored by Bad Boy Mowers and they and Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply had folks on hand all day to let people test out the Bad Boy Mowers and other equipment from Hirsch. It was a successful event according to John Williams, manager at Hirsch Feed & Farm Supply of West Plains.

Next weekend, April 30 will feature the huge MARS $3000 to win event presented by West Plains Resaw and Missouri Hardwood. All classes will be racing and there should be a large number of late models on hand. You don’t want to miss the action. Gates open at 5. Hot laps start at 6:30. Races at 7.
