Jason Hughes Claims Pair of USMTS Wins; USMTS Speedweek Next

Westville, Oklahoma (6/20/13) – Jason Hughes turned an extended weekend with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) into his second and third triumphs of the season in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified!

Jason Hughes began an extremely busy stretch of racing on Tuesday night with a bang by scoring the $5,050 feature win with the USMTS tour at I-35 Speedway (Mason City, Iowa)!

Thirty Open Wheel Modifieds were on hand for the race, and Jason started his night with a seventh to second run in his heat race to lock into the redraw for the feature, where he received the fourth starting spot. As the 40 lap finale went green Jason began working his way forward. He first took the lead from Ryan Ruter on lap 12 before Ruter led the next lap. However, on lap 14 Hughes retook the top spot and despite a late-race challenge from Rodney Sanders would lead the rest of the way to score the victory, which marked his second of the season! Sanders, Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, and Zack VanderBeek rounded out the finishing order.

Wednesday night found the team rolling into Amsoil Speedway (Superior, Wisconsin) for a $2,000-to-win program, which drew twenty-nine entries to the facility. A second place finish in his heat race positioned Jason starting fourth in the 40 lap event. Hughes found his way to the lead near the race's midway point, and went on to claim his second victory in as many nights with the tour. He was followed across the finish line by Stormy Scott, Craig Thatcher, Trevor Hunt, and Dereck Ramirez. The triumph was his third of the 2013 season.

On Thursday evening a $2,000-to-win program was contested at Eagle Valley Speedway (Jim Falls, Wisconsin), and thirty-six drivers were on hand to take a stab at the victory. Heat race action left Hughes short of earning a starting spot for the 40 lap feature, but a second place finish locked him into the sixteenth starting spot for the finale. He would go on to advance three spots to a thirteenth place finish.

Hughes Motorsports rolled into the state-of-the-art, Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) on Friday evening for the opening round of a doubleheader at the facility, which was held as a part of the annual Masters. Thirty-six competitors registered for action, and mechanical woes in heat race action forced Jason to utilize a series' provisional to start the main event in the 23rd position. He would go on to finish 20th.

Saturday night's program at Cedar Lake Speedway fell victim to rain.
Full results from the events are available at www.USMTS.com.

Donny Schatz Doing Double-Duty Friday at River Cities Speedway
Five-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car champ also running a late model

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - June 18, 2013 - Donny Schatz earned a pair of World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature event wins last weekend, by capturing victories at Jackson Speedway and Knoxville Raceway. On Friday night at River Cities Speedway he will add to the challenge by competing in not only his normal STP/Armor All sprint car but also an NLRA Late Model entry.

"We're excited about the opportunity to give the fans a chance to see someone compete in both classes," he said.

Schatz knows his way around River Cities Speedway, earning World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature wins there in 2008 and 2009. Even with a second car to worry about, Schatz says the team will still be focused on the sprint car.

"The World of Outlaws race is the focus and we really need to get our STP car back to victory lane at River Cities. We've had some good runs up there, but it's been a few years since we've won one."
Schatz has competed in the late model a few times this year.

"It's been a big learning curve and I know it's going to be tough up there," he said. "Those guys are really good. I'm just learning as much as I can every time I get into the car. It should be a great night of racing. I know my STP guys are really looking forward to us getting up there and having a chance to win that sprint car feature. We'll go out and do our best."

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series is brought to fans across the country by many important sponsors and partners, including: American Racing Custom Wheels (Official Custom Wheel), Armor All (Official Car Care Products), STP (Official Fuel Treatment), Hoosier Racing Tire (Official Tire), KMC (Official Custom Truck Wheel), University of Northwestern Ohio, VP Racing Fuels (Official Racing Fuel), Vicci (Official Apparel); in addition to contingency sponsors, including: Bruce High Performance Transporters, Cometic Gasket, Comp Cams, Edelbrock, JE Pistons, Klotz Synthetic Lubricants, KSE Racing Products, MSD Ignitions, Penske Shocks and Superflow Dynos; along with manufacturer sponsors, including: ButlerBuilt, Fuel Safe, Intercomp, J&J Auto Racing, Jake's Carts, Racing Electronics, S&S Volvo, TNT Rescue and Winters Performance.

Dennis Erb, Jr. Rallies for Brownstown Summer Nationals Win; Climbs Nine Spots at Mag!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS)  The Dennis Erb Racing team graced victory lane for the sixth time in 2013 on Wednesday night, June 12 at the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana!  The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour rolled into the 1/4-mile facility to sanction their season lid lifter.

Dennis Erb, Jr. timed in third quickest in his group during qualifying and later placed fifth in heat race action.  After grabbing the second transfer spot through the B-Main into the 40-lap main event, Dennis started the 'Hoosier Dirt Classic' from the outside of the ninth row.  The Carpentersville, Illinois star then put on a show, as he picked off each and every competitor in front of him.  Dennis eventually passed leader Jason Jameson for the point with only a few laps remaining to score the exciting $5,000 win over Jameson, Shannon Babb, Bobby Pierce, and Mike Jewell!

Next up for the #28 team was another round of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition on June 14-15 at the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi.  On Friday evening, Dennis qualified ninth fastest in Group B and later finished fifth in his stacked heat race.  Following a runner-up effort in the B-Main on Saturday, Dennis rolled off starting from the outside of the tenth row in the $20,000 to win 'Clash at the Mag.'  Dennis, who currently sits fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings, worked his way past nine cars during the 100-lapper en route to a respectable eleventh place performance.  Complete results from the busy week can be accessed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

"It was great to get another win at Brownstown; that is one of my favorite tracks and we always seem to run pretty well there," quoted Erb, who also won a $10,000 Lucas Oil race at the fairgrounds complex back on March 23.  "The car was phenomenal right through the middle of the track and we were able to drive up through the field to get the victory.  Then at Magnolia over the weekend, the track got slow and slick, but everybody seemed to be going about the same speed, so it was a little hard to pass.  But, I was able to get up through there and salvaged a decent finish."

The ultra-competitive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take the Dennis Erb Racing team to the Southeast this upcoming weekend, as a trio of $10,000 to win battles will be held in the states of Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia from June 20-22.  Tonight, Dennis is set to tackle the Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia, while he will be in action on Friday at the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina.  The triple shot of LOLMDS competition will then conclude on Saturday at the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia.  You can learn more about these pivotal point races by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Dennis would like to thank all of his sponsors including:  J.R. McBride Leasing, JL Scrap Metals, Kuntz & Company Racing Engines, Team Zero by Bloomquist, Petersen Aluminum, Performance Rod & Custom (PRC), C.J. Brian Birkhofer Nabs Second Win of 2013 at Cedar Lake; Finishes Third at Wilmot!

(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer picked up his second win of the 2013 racing season in the 'Masters' opener on Friday night, June 14 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin! Brian timed in second quickest in his group during UMP Summer Nationals qualifying and later took the victory in his heat race. After redrawing the third starting spot prior to the 40-lapper, Brian grabbed the top spot on lap nine and held off the talented field throughout the remainder of the distance to score the $5,000 triumph. The Muscatine, Iowa ace reached the checkers ahead of Brandon Sheppard, Brian Shirley, Jason Krohn, and Bobby Pierce!

Following a rain-out of the $10,000 to win 'Masters' finale at Cedar Lake on Saturday, the #15b team closed out their weekend on Sunday, June 16 at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin. Brian laid down the fastest lap of the 25 competitors during UMP Summer Nationals time trials and once again took home the heat race win. Despite a motor that was only running on seven cylinders during the $5,000 to win A-Main, Brian started and finished third in the 40-lap affair. The popular driver known as "Birky" trailed only winner Kevin Weaver and runner-up Brandon Sheppard in the rare visit to Wilmot. Complete results from the action-packed weekend can be viewed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

"It was a good weekend for us," commented Birkhofer earlier this week. "We always enjoy racing up at Cedar Lake and it was great to get the win on the new racing surface. Me and Brandon (Sheppard) had a pretty good battle up front and we learned a lot for when we come back to Cedar Lake for the USA Nationals in August. Then at Wilmot, we had a motor issue during our heat race, but I could still hang with those guys on seven cylinders in the feature. It was good to get a decent paycheck out of the night instead of starting and parking. Hopefully, we can continue to run up front this weekend in two more Summer Nationals shows at Granite City and Fairbury."

Two more UMP Summer Nationals tilts are on the schedule for the Birkhofer Racing team in the Land of Lincoln on June 21-22. Both the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois (Friday) and the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois (Saturday) will play host to $10,000 to win showdowns this upcoming weekend. Inside Line Promotions - LINCOLN, Neb. (June 19, 2013) - Redemption is on the mind of Mark Burch Motorsports and driver Danny Lasoski as they head to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday for the second time this season.

Lasoski is the winningest driver in Knoxville Raceway history and is only two 410ci victories away from being the first driver to record 100 career wins at the famed facility.

"To be honest, it's on everybody else's mind more than mine," he said. "It would be fantastic if we could reach 100, but right now we just want to win no matter where we are racing."

Lasoski is a nine-time Knoxville Raceway track champion and has garnered four Knoxville Nationals victories.

"I've been fortunate to be with good race teams with good race engines,' he said. "To run Knoxville you have to have a great engine and we do."
