Record Season Recorded for Larry Shaw Customers

Batesville, Arkansas (10/12/16) – The 2016 season has been another record-breaking year of racing for Larry Shaw Race Cars and its clients.

Earlier this season the company set the tone as it built its 5,000th chassis.

Meanwhile across North America its clients claimed hundreds of victories. With the season rapidly drawing to an end, championships are now flooding in as well.

For the first-time ever, a Modified chassis builder can claim victories in a single season in the Fall Triple Crown. Arizona’s Ricky Thornton Jr. started the party by topping more than 200 other Modifieds at the coveted Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals at Boone (Iowa) Speedway. Late in the season he also claimed an USMTS Modified win in the Deuces Wild event at Lakeside (Kan.) Speedway.

Four-time WISSOTA National Champion, Buzzy Adams picked up his 9th-career triumph in the WISSOTA 100 at Dakota (S.D.) State Fair Speedway in mid-September. The Wisconsin racer pocketed more than $18,000 for the feat.

Jacob Hawkins – who hails from the Mountaineer State – had another prolific year in 2016, which included dozens of wins. He rounded out the Fall Triple Crown for Larry Shaw Race Cars by claiming his second-straight UMP DIRTcar Fall Nationals title at Eldora (Ohio) Speedway in early October. He also notched championships with the AMRA Modifieds and the Renegades of Dirt Modifieds.

A bevy of late-season major event wins and accolades have dotted the landscape for Larry Shaw customers.

Chris Moore powered Murray Vaughn’s #45x Modified to the victory in the USCS Gumbo Nationals at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway, while Kyle Bronson bested a stout field of racers to take the win in the Larry Miller Memorial at East Bay (Fla.) Raceway Park.

Shawn Strong capped a memorable season with a $5,000 triumph in the B-Mod Nationals at Legit Speedway (Mo.) Park. Dean Abbey emerged victorious in the IMCA Modified portion of the Bryan Mize Memorial in Texas.

North of the border, Andrew Hennessy topped the Danny Reid Memorial at Brighton (Ont.) Speedway and also took the track title.

Tony Olson went on a rampage in 2016 with 30 victories to go with the IMCA Northern SportMod title. Tyler Soppe finished in the runner-up spot in the point battle. He collected 30 wins and also scored the Rumble on the River victory at Dubuque (Iowa) Speedway.

Buffalo River (Minn.) Race Park witnessed Michael Greseth surging to the IMCA Modified triumph during the Corn Cob Nationals.

The West Coast was not immune to the success of Larry Shaw Race Car clients. Fred Ryland rumbled to the John Soares Memorial win at California’s Antioch Speedway.

These wins and championships represent just a mere fraction of the accolades achieved by Larry Shaw Race Car clients in 2016.

“It’s been an amazing season for our company and our customers,” comments Larry Shaw. “I’ve always said you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. We have an incredible staff here at Larry Shaw Race Cars, and we have incredible customers. Without any of them, we couldn’t be enjoying this great success.”

He concludes by noting, “From the very bottom of my heart I want to thank our great customer base. So many drivers are working close with us to develop setups that are working for clients around the world. I also want to congratulate everyone on a fantastic year. I can’t wait to see what new accomplishments we can achieve in 2017.”
