Feels Like the First Time for Jason Hughes at I-35 Speedway

Westville, Oklahoma (07/16/16) – On Saturday night for the first time in his career Jason Hughes claimed an USMTS Modified win at I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri). Piloting his West Siloam Pawn #12 Hughes/Mullins Racing Engine Modified, Hughes wired the field for the $3,000 payday, which marked his 11th win of 2016.

United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) competition took Jason Hughes to Dodge County Speedway (Kasson, Minnesota) on Thursday evening for the first night of a three race swing. With 26 cars entered, mechanical issues in his heat race left Hughes starting 25th on the grid for the 42-lap finale. Despite starting on the tail of the field, Jason charged through the field twenty positions, notching a 5th place finish behind Rodney Sanders, Jason Cummins, Brandon Davis and Cade Dillard.

Following the USMTS to Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa) on Friday night, Jason finished 3rd in his heat race, which set him up with the 9th-starting position for the feature. Breaking into the Top 5, Hughes advanced six positions in the 42-lapper, posting a 3rd-place finish behind Zack VanderBeek and Cade Dillard. Rodney Sanders and Stormy Scott rounded out the top five.

Closing out the triple-header on Saturday, 34 USMTS Modifieds signed in at I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri) for the 8th Annual Seeburg Mufflers Missouri Meltdown. Passing two cars in his heat, Hughes landed a runner-up finish behind Jesse Sobbing, which earned him the 2nd-starting spot for the feature alongside Sobbing. Storming into the lead on the drop of the green flag, Jason led all 42-laps, picking up his 11th win of the season and a $3,000 payday. Jesse Sobbing, Cade Dillard, Matt Dotson, and Rodney Sanders trailed Hughes across the finish line.

“I was having a little trouble in lapped traffic, but it got kind of fun there trying to get by the lapped cars too before that caution,” Hughes said. “Then I saw somebody dive in on me on that last restart, but I knew if I hit that top and stayed there they probably couldn't clear me. It definitely feels great to finally get an USMTS win at this place.”

Jason continues to lead the MSD Central Region standings and RealTruck.com Northern Region point standings, while Hughes Race Cars leads the Manufacturers Championship points. Complete results from these events can be found at www.USMTS.com .

Jason now looks ahead to a busy week with the USMTS. Action opens on Monday night at Iowa State Fair Speedway (Des Moines, Iowa) before shifting to Southern Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, Iowa) on Tuesday evening. Rilat Lands Third-Place Result during NSA Shootout at Billings Motorsports Park

Inside Line Promotions - BILLINGS, Mont. (July 18, 2016) - Travis Rilat was in contention for his first win of the season driving for Richard Saumure last weekend.

Rilat led the middle portion of the $7,500-to-win NSA Shootout finale on Saturday at Billings Motorsports Park before he ended with a third-place result.

"I made a couple of mistakes in traffic that cost us," he said. "Usually that's where I'm at my best, but it didn't work out this weekend."

The two-day event began with Friday night being rained out by a violent storm that invaded the area just after qualifying. Rilat and the team return to the 3/8-mile oval on Saturday when they qualified eighth quickest.

Rilat then advanced from third place to win a heat race. That earned enough points to lock into the dash redraw, where he pulled the No. 2 to start on the outside of the front row. The dash was scrapped and therefore Rilat lined up in that position for the 30-lap main event.

"Aaron Reutzel was running in the middle and I found something around the top," he said. "I ran him down and got by him. My guys said I had a pretty good lead, but he was able to get me in traffic and Sam Hafertepe Jr. followed him through there. I got a little loose as the race went on and wasn't able to get back by them."

Rilat led laps 11 through 18 before losing the two positions to end third.

"Hats off to Mike Quigley and his team at Billings Motorsports Park," he said. "He went out and worked the track before the feature and it was pretty racy."

Rilat is slated to take this weekend off before returning to competition with Saumure July 29-30 at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., for the Bob's Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals.

Sides Shows Progress during Brad Doty Classic and Kings Royal Features

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 18, 2016) - Jason Sides is full stride into the 'Month of Money.'

He competed in four races during two marquee World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events last weekend with a pair of top-notch events on tap this weekend. Sides will race on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the $25,000-to-win Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup and Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the $25,000-to-win Summer Nationals and Morgan Cup.

Sides kicked off last weekend on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the Brad Doty Classic. He qualified seventh quickest in his group before placing fifth in a heat race. That relegated Sides into the Last Chance Showdown, where a runner-up result garnered a transfer into the main event.

"The track slicked up for the B Main and I got moving some," he said. "We figured out what we needed to do for the feature and tightened up more. The restarts helped us the most."

Sides rallied from 20th to a 13th-place finish.

He then ventured to Eldora Speedway for the three-night Kings Royal beginning on Thursday. Sides timed in 13th quickest in his group before ending 11th in a heat race and 16th in the Last Chance Showdown.

"The first night we just weren't balanced right," he said. "The car was down and sliding. We made a few changes and got it better the next night."

Friday began with Sides qualifying 12th quickest in his group. He then finished fourth in a heat race to miss locking into the feature by only one spot. Sides maneuvered from eighth to fourth place in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the 22nd starting position for the main event.

"We tightened it so much, but it still wasn't as good as we would have liked," he said after settling for a 20th-place result. "We went back to a neutral deal for the final night and got it better."

The finale didn't start well for Sides, who had to change an engine between hot laps and qualifying. The team got it done in time for Sides to qualify 13 th quickest out of nearly 60 competitors.

Sides placed fifth in a heat race before advancing from eighth to fourth place to earn the final transfer from the B Main.

"Before the feature they watered the bottom of the track a little bit," he said. "We were too tight and being behind all those cars it was evil handling. I couldn't get going until some of the fuel came off. By that time we were lapped and just riding around there."

Sides made progress during the second half of the race when he maneuvered to a 18th-place finish. It was his seventh Kings Royal feature made and fifth in the last eight years.

QUICK RESULTS -

July 12 - Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio - Qualifying: 7; Heat race: 5 (3); B Main: 2 (4); Feature: 13 (20).
