William Thomas Bags First Win of Season at Boyds

Phenix City, Alabama (04/09/13) - It was back to business for William Thomas over the weekend as he took part in a pair of events in Georgia in his #22 Mastersbilt.

On Friday night William entered a $3,000-to-win, Steel Head Late Model race at Boyds Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia). A stout field of thirty-two entries were on hand to wage war for the big payday and via preliminary action Thomas locked into the pole position for the main event. As the feature went green William assumed the second position, and he would challenge for the lead for the duration of the event before settling for an apparent second place finish. However, in post race technical inspection the winner was disqualified due to a muffler issue. As a result William was awarded with the win. Full results from the event are available at www.BoydsSpeedway.net .

On Saturday evening William piloted his #22 Thomas Motorsports Mastersbilt entry at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Georgia) in a $4,000-to-win, Ultimate Super Late Model Series event. Thirty-two competitors converged on the 1/3 mile oval, and after winning a qualifier he locked into the eleventh starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Top-20 for Bobby Labonte Racing at Lonestar Speedway
Broken Torque Arm Ends Day after Promising Start

TRINITY, N.C. (April 9, 2013) - Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) set out Thursday evening on a long road trip for two days of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned racing. The team's first stop was at Jackson Motor Speedway. The BLR team was looking forward to some Friday night racing, however, Mother Nature had other plans. By midday Friday, the event at Jackson Motor Speedway had been cancelled due to heavy rains the night before. Pearson Jr. and the No. 44 BLR team then headed on to Lonestar Speedway in Texas.

The Lucas Oil Series had 39 cars on hand for the $10,000 to win late model dirt race at Lonestar Speedway. "The Hurricane" from Jacksonville, FL sent a message early on that he was a force to be reckoned with. He won Heat 3, which gave him a second-place starting position for the feature race.

Things were looking up for Person Jr. "The Hurricane" was battling up front and poised for a solid finish. Everyone was happy with the car until the track's rough conditions caused the rear torque arm to break on the No. 44 car. That ended the night for the BLR team and gave them a 19th place finish at Lonestar Speedway.

"I was really happy with the Lucas Oil Longhorn Chassis during my heat race," said Pearson Jr. "Everything was looking good for us. The car was fast and handling just how I wanted it to, but rough conditions on the track caused the rear torque arm to come loose in the feature, ending our night. The guys did a great job at the shop and track to give me the best car. Sometimes those things happen and there's nothing you can do about it."

Earl Pearson Jr. now sits ninth in point standings, only 175 points behind the leader. BLR will have this week off, then head north for a weekend full of racing. The team will be at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA on Friday, April 19th, Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, April 20th and then head to West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV on Sunday, April 21st.  Be sure to follow the BLR team and Earl Pearson Jr. on Facebook (www.facebook.com/bobby.labonte.racing) and Twitter (@blabonteracing).

The first two late model chassis built out of Longhorn Chassis went to Justin Labonte and the house car, driven by Earl Pearson Jr. Pearson would debut his Longhorn Chassis at the North/South 100 in Florence, Ky., where he finished a solid second, he'd later record Longhorn Chassis' first Victory at the 2010 Dirt Track World Championships at West Virginia Motor Speedway. With just a couple of racing season under their belts, and numerous wins, Longhorn Chassis has already proven its strength and ability on the track.
