Late Models race for $3K Saturday

CALVERT CITY, Ky. – A special event for UMP Late Models and the “old school” coupes and sedans of Kentucky Vintage Racing Association are on tap Saturday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.
Big money will also be on the line for UMP Stock Car competitors.

The Late Models will race fo $3,000 to win in a 35-lap main event. That’s three times the prize money for the regular Saturday night program. As many as 30 cars will start the feature, and every starter will earn at least $200.

Stock Car drivers will run 25 laps for $1,500 to win and a minimum payoff of $125, compared to a $500 regular payoff for the usual 20-lap main event.

Also on the program will be Modified and Pro (Crate) Late Model competitors, who will compete in their regular 25-lap features. The Modified main will pay $700 to the winner and the Crate feature will pay $600.
The program is the second of three straight June events offering special features. On June 28, the Modified and Crate cars will again run 35-lap specials playing $3,000 to win, as they did on June 14.
The vintage cars feature genuine steel bodies of American-made cars from 1932 to 1948, mounted on modern racing chassis with engines similar to the modern equipment in other divisions. The series, based in Murray, Kentucky, was established in 2007.

Grandstand admission for all three June specials remains at the regular $15 rate for adults, $12 for seniors and military and free for children 10 and under. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Hot laps are scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with qualifying and racing at 6:30.
