Bluegrass Nationals Friday-Saturday at KLMS

CALVERT CITY, Kentucky – Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway will try again this weekend to resume dirt-track racing with a two-night special event, the Bluegrass Nationals, on Friday and Saturday.

The track has been idle the past two weekends, twice because of weather and once when no races were scheduled.

The Bluegrass Nationals will feature the MARS Late Model and AMS Modified touring series. Both nights of racing will also include races for Crate Late Models, Stock Cars and Pure Stocks, with all main events paying extra prize money.

Billy Moyer Jr. won last year’s Late Model feature and a $10,000 first-place prize in a one-day program. This year, the MARS Late Model drivers will compete for $2,000 to win on Friday and $4,000 on Saturday.

The AMS open-wheel cars will race for $3,000 and $5,000 to win.

The Bluegrass Nationals was originally scheduled to include a visit by the World of Outlaws Late Models in March, but the event was canceled by wet weather. The Outlaws series did not reschedule the event, so the MARS Late Models, already scheduled to make two visits to KLMS this year, were included in the rescheduled Bluegrass event.

Grandstand admission is $25 for adults on Friday and $30 on Saturday, with a two-day pass available costing $50. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Pit admission either day is $35 per person, with a two-day pass available for $60. There is a $50 charge for driver and car each night. The pits will open at 10 a.m. on Friday, with sign-in and registration to begin at 2 p.m.
