Blaney Rallies for Top 10 with All Stars at Lernerville Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LERNERVILLE, Pa. (May 17, 2016) - Dale Blaney pocketed his 19th top-10 finish of the season last Friday at Lernerville Speedway. However, it was anything but routine for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions points leader.

Blaney and his Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed CH Motorsports team opened the All Star event by setting quick time during qualifying. Blaney then advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to lock into the dash.

"We qualified well and ran good in our heat race," he said. "We didn't have to run first or second, just had to run in the top five. I felt like we were pretty good. In the dash draw we drew a seven out of eight. It was pretty important where you started. I still felt like starting seventh we were going to be ok. It was going to be hard to get to the front, but we could have had a top-three car."

Blaney finished where he started - seventh - in the dash to line up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

"I got in behind Eric Williams on the start (of the feature) and he got into turns one and two on the top and I had a big head of steam on the top," he said. "He tripped on the cushion and got slowed down. I either had to run into the back of him or I was going to go over the hill and I chose the hill. That put me back to 17th or so. We got ourselves back to seventh. It was a frustrating race because I felt like I had a pretty good car. If we could have got a good start I felt like I could have raced my way to a top three."

Blaney rebounded from the early miscue to pick up a seventh-place result, which was his series leading ninth top 10 in nine races this season.

Saturday's All Star race at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa., rained out.

Blaney will return to All Star competition this Friday at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Ill., and Saturday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis.

"If we've been to Lincoln it would have been in 1996," he said. "I think we've won the last four All Star races at Wilmot. That's a fun place. It always gets racy."

Rilat Making First Trip of Season to Montana This Weekend for GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Big Horn Doubleheader

Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (May 17, 2016) - Travis Rilat will make his season debut driving for Richard Saumure this weekend in Montana at the inaugural GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Big Horn Region event.

Electric City Speedway in Great Falls will host the doubleheader with races on Friday and Saturday.

"The No. 39 car seems to be pretty fast everywhere we go," Rilat said. "I've never been to Electric City, but hopefully we'll keep our Montana streak alive."

Rilat and Saumure competed in a trio of doubleheaders in Montana last season with the duo scoring a victory during each weekend with top-five finishes in the other race each time. The team's average finish in the six races was 1.83.

Rilat is coming off a rough time in his own sprint car during the Texas World Dirt Track Championships last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader began on Friday with Rilat finishing fifth in a heat race after a close call racing with a competitor.

"The first night we had a decent run going in the heat," he said. "We were up to fourth from sixth and had the third-place car trap us in the infield. That put us finishing fifth in the heat."

Rilat then advanced from seventh to sixth in a heat race and he won a B Main after starting on the outside of the front row.

"The track rubbered up in the B Main and I was able to find the rubber before the leader," he said. "In the feature the track was rubbered up and they shortened the race to 20 laps. We just started in the back and finished in the back. There wasn't much we could do."

Rilat ended with an 18th-place result.

The weekend concluded on Saturday. Rilat advanced from sixth to third place in a heat race before he lined up fifth in a qualifier.

"We were burning up a set of tires every time we hit the track," he said. "We dug around and found a set of used tires in the trailer for the qualifier. The tires never did get ahold of the track. We just backed up."

Rilat's eighth-place result sent him to a B Main, which he won to transfer into the main event.

"The track was rubbered up again," he said. "We probably could have done a little better, but early in the race we got in with another driver who hit our left rear and we about turned over. By the time that was all done we dropped near last."

Rilat rebounded to post a 14th-place finish.

QUICK RESULTS -

May 13 - Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Fort Worth, Texas - Heat race: 5 (6); Qualifier: 6 (7); B Main: 1 (2); Feature: 18 (18).

"It's kind of funny how I met (Shark owner) Marc Huson when I went up there to Washington for an ASCS National Tour race," Rilat said. "I was wandering around talking on my cell phone and saw a sprint car next door. I walked over, looked around and introduced myself.

"He's been a great friend. He was instrumental with a support group for me and my family when I was in the hospital up there. He and his wife helped us out in a hard time. Hanks Battles Mechanical Woes throughout Texas World Dirt Track Championships

Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (May 17, 2016) - The Texas World Dirt Track Championships was a frustrating experience for Brandon Hanks, who faced mechanical woes throughout the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

"It was a disaster," he said. "We fought engine issues throughout the whole weekend. We were so distracted with engines we never got to work on the car."

The doubleheader began on a sour note Friday.

"On Friday we were very lucky," he said. "I went out and ran hot laps. I was pulling off the race track and up to the trailer and the engine started knocking. I shut it off. It was a little knock. You almost couldn't even hear it knocking, but you could tell the tone was different."

Hanks elected to change engines and he missed a heat race, which relegated him to the back of a B Main. He then rallied from 13th to sixth, but missed a transfer by three positions. Hanks used a provisional to start the 20-lap feature at the back.

He ran a few laps before pulling off the track early and ending with a 22nd-place finish.

Things didn't get any better on Saturday as Hanks placed fifth in a heat race, eighth in a qualifier and fourth in a B Main, which missed a transfer by only one position.

"The engine on the car didn't blow up, but something is wrong," he said. "It wasn't running well at all and kept fouling spark plugs."

Hanks is hopeful the engine situation will get sorted out prior to this weekend when he is scheduled to compete on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., and Saturday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., with the ASCS Red River Region. Hanks is the current ASCS Red River Region points leader.

Hagar Hustles to Second Straight Hooker Hood Classic Triumph

Inside Line Promotions - WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (May 17, 2016) - Derek Hagar was on a mission last Saturday during the Hooker Hood Classic at Riverside International Speedway.

Hagar opened the $3,000-to-win event by winning the dash, which was lined up by a random draw and paid $400 to win. He then charged from last - seventh - to win a heat race with a last-lap pass.

"We got up to second coming off turn two on the first lap," he said. "We worked on the leader the whole heat race. We got a good slider on him coming to the white flag. I slid him again coming to the checkered. It was a close, close finish. We got the edge on him. That gave us high points."

Hagar garnered the most overall points and therefore the pole position for the 40-lap main event.

"They gave me the lane choice and I wanted to start on the bottom, but they thought I wanted to start on the top and Tim Crawley pulled to the inside of me," he said. "It worked out in my advantage and we took the lead. The track was around the bottom. That doesn't fit my driving style, but we put together 40 good laps."

Hagar quickly powered into the top spot and he maintained the lead throughout the race despite thick traffic at times that allowed Crawley to reach his rear bumper.

"Lapped cars made it difficult at times, which let Crawley close in on me," Hagar said. "We could get them coming off the corners. I was slowing my speed up. I could hold the bottom coming off the corners to stay in the moisture."

The win was Hagar's fifth of the season and his second straight Hooker Hood Classic triumph.

He is slated to return to action this Friday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., where he will compete with the ASCS Warrior Region and drive a nonwing sprint car for David Korte with the WAR Sprint Car Series.
