Zach Pringle Wins I-30 Thriller in COMP Cams Interstate Cup Action

Memphis, Tennessee (07/14/15) – Mother Nature finally allowed the COMP Cams Interstate Cup presented by Dixon Road U-Pull-It to host its third event of the season on Saturday night with a trip to I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas). (Lonnie Wheatley Photo)

One driver’s misfortune proved to be good luck for Zach Pringle as he claimed his second win of the 2015 edition of the miniseries. With 29 entries on hand Greenbrier, Arkansas’ pilot, Jordon Mallett led from the drop of the green flag, and looked to be on his way to his first victory of the season. However, luck would not be on his side. Exiting turn four on the final, a pair of lapped cars tangled, which collected Mallet just a matter of feet from the finish line.

Zach Pringle raced past the spun Mallett to score the victory with AG Rains, Dalton Davis, Derek Hagar, and Tim Crawley completing the top five.

Little Rock driver, Zach Pringle leads the latest standings by four markers over A.G. Rains, Howard Moore, Justin Sturch, and Cody Gardner. Positions six through ten are currently occupied by Mike Pack, Jeremy Middleton, Joe Young, Robert Richardson, and Blake Jenkins.

The next point event for the series will be on July 18th at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas). For more information, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com .

The COMP Cams Interstate Cup presented by Dixon Road U-Pull-It was created in 2011 to reward drivers for competing at both tracks. A.G. Rains from West Memphis, Arkansas claimed the title in each of the first three years before seeing fellow West Memphis resident, Marshall Skinner dethrone him in 2014.

For 2015 the tracks have once again coincided their schedules to not run Winged 360 c.i. Sprint Cars on the same night to further their cooperation. Each weekly racing series point’s event through September 12th at each track will count toward a driver's point total in the program. Any special event that pays more than a weekly show does not count as a point's event for the series.

Drivers have no restrictions on how many races that they can miss at each facility to still be eligible for the season-ending point's money. Points acquired in all races will count toward the final total.

The final payout for the series will pay ten places, and the minimum payout for the final COMP Cams Interstate Cup will be the following: 1)$2,000 2)$1,500 3)$1,000 4)$800 5)$700 6)$600 7)$500 8)$450 9)$350 10)$300 and as more sponsors are secured the payout may be increased.

COMP Cams has also posted the following contingency prizes for the top five:
1st - $1000 COMP Cams Gift Certificate PLUS Trophy Cup
2nd - $750 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
3rd - $500 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
4th - $250 COMP Cams Gift Certificate
5th - $125 COMP Cams Gift Certificate

In addition to money and contingencies, the program will reward provisionals. The driver, highest in the final top ten standings in the point's program, who doesn't qualify for the 7th Annual Ralph Henson Memorial on Saturday, September 19th at I-30 Speedway will get a provisional starting spot in the main event. Similarly the driver highest in the top ten in the final points (who didn't use a provisional at the Ralph Henson Memorial), who doesn't qualify for the Fall Nationals at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday, October 3rd will get a provisional starting spot for the main event.

Race fans can also donate money to the point's fund if they so choose. For a $100 donation, a race fan can be the title sponsor on a Sprint Car Weekly Racing Series Event at either track, and 100% of that money will go into the point's fund.
