Cody Gardner Leads COMP Cams Interstate Sprint Car Cup Points
Memphis, Tennessee (04/03/12) - With three rounds in the books the COMP Cams Interstate Sprint Car Cup presented by Dixon Road U-Pull-It points are still being led by Cody Gardner, but Jan Howard is now just four points out of the lead. So far series' wins have been claimed by Gary Taylor, Zach Pringle, and Tim Crawley. The next points event will be held on Saturday, April 7th at I-30 Speedway. For more information, please visit www.I-30Speedway.com .
The minimum payout for the final COMP Cams Interstate Cup in 2012 will be the following: 1)$2,500 2)$1,600 3)$1,100 4)$800 5)$700 6)$600 7)$500 8)400 and as more sponsors are secured the payout may be increased.
The COMP Cams Interstate Cup was created in 2011 to reward drivers for competing at both tracks. A.G. Rains claimed the initial title. For 2012 the tracks have once again coincided their schedule to not run Winged 360 c.i. Sprint Cars on the same night and to further their cooperation. Each weekly racing series point's event at each track will count toward a driver's point total in the program. A driver will be allowed to miss one event at each track and still be eligible for point's money and prizes, but there will be no drop races. Points acquired in all races will count toward the final total.
COMP Cams has also posted the following contingency prizes for the top five:
In addition to money and contingencies, the program will reward provisionals. The driver, highest in the point's program, who doesn't qualify for the 5th Annual Ralph Henson Memorial on Saturday, September 29th at I-30 Speedway will get a provisional starting spot in the main event. Similarly the driver highest in points (who didn't use a provisional at the Ralph Henson Memorial), who doesn't qualify for the Fall Nationals at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday, October 6th will get a provisional starting spot for the main event.
Race fans can also donate money to the point's fund if they so choose. For a $100 donation, a race fan can be the title sponsor on a Sprint Car Weekly Racing Series Event at either track, and 100% of that money will go into the point's fund. The COMP Cams Interstate Cup would like to thank its sponsors, which include COMP Cams, Hoosier Racing Tires, I-30 Speedway, Riverside International Speedway, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.
