Kyle Beard Tops Gumbo Nationals Modified Finale; Mag State 100 Next

Trumann, Arkansas (10/06/15) – Kyle Beard raced to his sixteenth victory of the season over the weekend with a $1,500 triumph in the 9th Annual Gumbo Nationals in the Shawn Mann Motorsports #86 GRT Modified.

The team traveled south to Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) over the weekend for the 9th Annual Gumbo Nationals, where Kyle competed in both the Super Late Model and Modified divisions.

In the Super Late Model ranks Kyle went out late in his group for qualifying on Friday evening, and by that time the track had slowed significantly. As a result he was forced to start deep in his heat race grid. He would fall short of racing his way into a transfer spot, and as a result had to run a b-main on Saturday. In the b-main he ran as high as the 2nd spot for a majority of the race before getting shuffled to a 4th place finish coming to the checkered flag. With only the top three finishers transferring to the feature, his outing came to a disappointing, early end.

Modified competition would treat Beard far better. With thirty-three entries registered for competition, Kyle won his heat race from the 5th starting spot on Friday night to earn the pole for Saturday's $1,500-to-win finale. He grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag. Beard led early before slipping back to the 2nd spot. He would regain the lead late in the feature and went on to score the victory. Caleb Shown, Chris Moore, Keith Hammett, and Troy Dow completed the top five finishers. He now has sixteen wins this season.

“We were disappointed to miss the Super Late Model feature because we had a really good car, but it felt good to get redemption in the Modified class,” said Beard. “I want to thank Shawn Mann and all of my great sponsors for their support.”

Full results from the event are available at www.GreenvilleSpeedway.net .

Next on tap for the team is a trip this weekend, October 9th-10th, to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for the annual Magnolia State Cotton Pickin 100. The program will be headlined by a $20,000-to-win/ $1,200-to-start finale. For more information on the event, please visit www.MagnoliaDirt.com .
