Jason Hughes Tops Randolph County USMTS Event

Westville, Oklahoma (04/26/16) – Jason Hughes topped the USMTS Modified foes at Randolph County Raceway on Saturday evening in his West Siloam Pawn #12 Hughes/Mullins Racing Engine Modified for his third win of the season.

Returning to action with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), Jason Hughes visited Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) on Friday night for the 5th Annual Tompkins Industries Rumble on the River’s Edge. Competing in a field of 35-cars, Hughes secured his spot into the main event with a 3rd place outing in his heat. Starting in the 7th-position for the 32-lap affair, Jason gained one spot notching a 6th place finish.

The following night brought Jason to Randolph County Raceway (Moberly, Missouri) for the USMTS-sanctioned, 6th Annual Sydenstricker Farm & Lawn Shootout. Storming to the front from his 5th place starting spot, Jason captured a heat race win, earning him the 3rd-starting position for the feature. Battling for a $3,000 payday, Hughes overtook Rodney Sanders on the 19th lap to pick up his third victory of the season with Zack VanderBeek, Jesse Sobbing, Johnny Scott, and Cade Dillard rounding out the top five.

Wrapping up the weekend, Jason traveled to Atchison County Raceway (Atchison, Kansas) on Sunday for the Inaugural Cage Match presented by R&S Automotive. Improving one spot in his heat, Hughes earned a spot into the A-Main with a 3rd place finish in his heat. Falling one spot short in the 52-lapper, Jason scored a runner-up finish behind Cade Dillard with Daniel Hilsabeck, Rodney Sanders, and Jesse Sobbing completing the top five.

“It was another great weekend for our team,” said Hughes. “The competition on this tour is just incredible so to consistently be battling at the front of the pack is a big deal.”

Jason sits in first in the latest USMTS MSD Central Region points standings. In addition, Hughes Race Cars leads the Manufacturers Championship Points. Complete results from these events as well as the latest standings can be found at www.USMTS.com .
