Kirby Records Top 10 Finish at I-30, NAS and Columbus up next for H & K

(Russellville,AR)  The H & K Racing Team was back in action this past Saturday night at the I-30 Speedway.  The event marked the first MSRA race of the season.
26 Super Late Models were on hand for action.

Both Hottinger and Kirby drew a large number for the heat race.  They would start side by side on the last row of the third heat.  Dewaine was able to make his way around a few cars early but the leaders had gotten away. Hottinger finished 5th, and that was enough to earn a spot in the "A" Feature.  Jon Kirby was also able to advance fron his 8th starting position up to 6th as he fought an ill-handling car.

Jon's 6th place finish in the heat was not enough to make the main event.  So, he started from the pole in the "B" Main beside Billy Moyer Jr.  With the car still not handling right for Kirby he gave way to Moyer, finishing 2nd.  This gave Kirby a 16th starting spot for the Feature.

The main event started good for Hottinger, as he worked his way up a few spots from his 13th starting position in the opening laps.  Hottinger's promising run came to a halt though, when he hooked a rut in turn one and bent something on the suspension of his machine.  His night was done. He would finish 19th.

Kirby on the other hand, had the attitude of his GRT by Frye looking alot better.  Jon started moving early, running anywhere he could.  He fought through the rough race track, and by the time the checkers fell he had advanced all the way to 7th.   Jon was awarded the Larry Shaw Hard Charger Award for his efforts.
