For Immediate Release Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Claims First Win of 2012 Northport, Alabama (04/05/12) – It's been an up-and-down start to the year for Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, but on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway he claimed his first win of the season in his #18 Flynn Motorsports/ Warrior/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. Friday night found the team at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) in a $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event at the 1/4 mile oval. Forty-five Super Late Models entered the event, and Ronny Lee began the night by qualifying tenth fastest in his group, which earned him the fifth starting spot for the fourth heat race. He would go on to finish fifth in his heat, which left him one spot short of a transfer to the feature, but earned him a front row, starting spot for a b-main. He would go on to finish second in the b-main to lock into the 20th starting spot on the grid for the 50 lap finale. In the feature he would fail to make up any ground early in the event and opted to retire to save his equipment. He was credited with a 22nd place finish. Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com. On Saturday night Ronny Lee entered a Weekly Racing Series Event at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi), and it would prove to be a great outing as he raced his way to his first feature win of the season. Via preliminary action he earned the second starting spot for the main event with Rick Rickman joining him on the front row. The duo would battle for the lead early in the event before Rickman headed pit side with mechanical issues. Hollingsworth would go on to claim the win, which was his first of 2012! Full results are available at www.ColumbusSpeedway.net. Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) was on the docket for Sunday evening for the Flynn Motorsports team. With twenty-two cars registered for battle in the Weekly Racing Series Event, Hollingsworth's luck would take a turn for the worst as mechanical issues early in the evening prevented him from starting the feature. Full results from the event are available at www.MagnoliaDirt.com. The team will take the upcoming weekend off from racing as they prepare a brand new, Barry Wright Race Car, which will be debuted on April 13th-14th in the inaugural Spring Throwdown at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 5, 2012 Scott James Takes First Checkers of 2012 at Florence; Jason Riggs Earns Pair of Runner-Ups (HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Scott James, of Bright, Indiana, picked up his first checkered flag of the 2012 racing season on Saturday night, March 31 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky! Scott started deep in his heat race and advanced up to second in his prelim. After rolling off from the inside of the second row in the 35-lap, unsanctioned main event, Scott worked his way past leader Brad Neat to grab the point on lap eighteen. The popular driver known as the "Silver Shark" then led the remainder of the distance to pocket the $2,000 top prize over Neat, Brandon Green, Robby Hensley, and Josh Williams! "Our car gets around Florence Speedway pretty good," quoted James earlier this week. "We got caught up in the big wreck during the Spring 50 a few weeks ago there, but we had a fast car that night as well. I have to thank Scott Riggs and everyone associated with Riggs Motorsports for their support, as well as my crew guy Jeremy McConnaughey. He made the right tire choice for the feature the other night at Florence and that was definitely a key to the victory. Hopefully, we can go back over there this weekend (April 7) and run up front again." The other two Riggs Motorsports drivers were also in action over the weekend, as both Jason Riggs and Kevin Cole invaded the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky on Friday evening, March 30 for a regular weekly show. Jason ran third in his heat race, started fifth in the A-Main, and took the lead late in the race before settling for a strong runner-up performance behind only winner Craig Smith. Kevin won his heat race to earn the pole position for the main event, but a flat tire with only six laps remaining relegated him to an eighth place effort. On Saturday, Jason and the #81jr team made their way to the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee for another weekly program. The Harrisburg, Illinois driver timed in second quickest during qualifying, ran second in the dash, and later notched another runner-up finish in the A-Main behind only winner Caleb Ashby. Complete results from all of these shows can be viewed online at www.florencespeedway.com, www.paducahracing.com, and www.clarksvillespeedway.com. All three Riggs Motorsports drivers will head in separate directions over the upcoming April 6-7 weekend. Scott will once again travel to the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday night for a $3,000 to win, unsanctioned program. Jason will venture to the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky on Friday evening for a regular weekly show. Kevin plans to head to the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Friday for the track's season opening event. Both Jason and Kevin will then take Saturday off from Dirt Late Model competition. You can view the upcoming schedules for all three drivers online at www.riggsmotorsports.com. A stellar field of 53 competitors converged on the 1/4-mile fairgrounds venue and all eyes were fixated on the hefty $20,000 top prize. On Friday night during preliminary action, Jimmy laid down the ninth quickest lap during World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later won his loaded heat race. Prior to the start of the 100-lapper on Saturday evening, Jimmy drew the outside front row starting spot. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout grabbed the point at the drop of the green flag and never looked back en route to leading flag-to-flag. Jimmy pocketed the $20,000 payday by beating Darrell Lanigan, Shannon Babb, Rick Eckert, and Brian Birkhofer to the checkers. Full results from the 'Illini 100' can be viewed online at www.worldofoutlaws.com. "It is a true honor to finally get that first career win at Farmer City and to do it in the Illini 100 is just awesome," exclaimed Mars following the win. "I have never really been all that good at Farmer City, but the car was excellent all weekend long. When the track was slick early in the feature, my car was just flawless. When it took rubber, that is when I couldn't turn as well as I needed to. But, I was able to keep (Darrell) Lanigan and the rest of those guys behind me and get the victory. I have to thank everyone at Mars Racing, Deppe Enterprises, and all of our great sponsors and supporters." Next up for the Mars Racing team will be a trip to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on April 6-7. Media Contact: Ryan Delph - Delph Communications www.DelphCommunications.comFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BEAR LAKE, PA – April 5, 2012 – Chub Frank’s visit to Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway for last weekend’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Illini 100’ didn’t leave him with any rosy feelings. When the checkered flag flew on the 100-lap A-Main Saturday night with Frank listed 18th in the final running order, all he could think about was putting the frustrating trip behind him and getting back to Bear Lake, Pa., to regroup. “It wasn’t a very good race for us,” said the 50-year-old Frank. “The track rubbered so passing was hard, but we weren’t any good anyway. We didn’t qualify good (on Friday night) and that put us behind, and then the car was just never any good (in the 100). It didn’t do anything it was supposed to do.” Frank qualified 32nd-fastest out of 53 entries in Friday’s time-trial session. He then drove his Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No. 1* to a fifth-place finish in the second of Friday’s six 15-lap heat races, falling two spots short of transferring to the Illini 100. Frank failed to qualify through the first of two 20-lap B-Mains on Saturday night, finishing third to miss a transfer position by one. He used a WoO LMS points provisional to start the A-Main from the 24th spot. The Illini 100 was an uneventful affair for Frank, who went down a lap midway through the race but got back on the leader’s circuit during a lap-80 caution period thanks to the ‘Outlaw Pardon.’ He was unable to take advantage of the break, however, settling for an 18th-place finish. Frank ended the weekend ranked fifth in the WoO LMS points standings through seven events, 118 points behind leader Darrell Lanigan. The driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ plans to take a couple weeks off from competition before entering the 2012 season opener at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., on April 20 and a ULMS event at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on April 21. His next WoO LMS action is a Southern doubleheader on April 27 at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia and April 28 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway.
