Moore Dominates Hattiesburg Southern Outlaws Event

April 25,2015 - (Hattiesburg, MS) - Despite rain all around the facility, Mother Nature smiled on the Pensacola, FL based Southern Outlaw Sprinters and Hattiesburg Speedway on Friday nights, setting the stage for a wealth of racing action on the Donald Parker and family promoted facility.

The well conditioned 1/4 mile track has seen great benefits from the efforts of Parker and his staff this season, and the grandstand attendance as well as the car count have shown those efforts.  A packed pit area featuring over 80 cars including 14 winged sprinters and nearly 20 heavy hitters in the crate late model ranks set the stage for the evening.

Once the SOS Drivers Meeting presented by Eagle Motorsports was complete, the action moved to the track for heat 1 presented by AutoMeter.  Michael Miller wasted no time in testing the track surface, blasting through multiple laps at full throttle aboard his Hoosier tire shod Professional Collision Repair / VP Racing Fuels sponsored XXX chassis. The Dynotech horsepower was put to good use in taking the top spot at the checkered.  In Ultrashield Racing Products heat two, Howard Moore put on the same type of high powered, mud slinging show to take the top spot aboard the JR-1 chassis sponsored by Dynamic Electrical and Stinson Industrial.

Once the passing points were added up, Moore claimed the top spot beside current SOS rookie points leader Ronnie Roberts.  Moore wasted no time in exerting his claim to the top spot, again flat footing turn one on the start to pull ahead of Roberts with Miller in tow.  Miller, who early on looked to be the only driver with anything for Moore, suffered a steering failure that dumped him in the turn one wall in a "knew it would leave a mark" incident. Once the track was cleared and the track back to green flag racing, Moore ran away from the field, lapping up to the third place finisher, Morgan Turpen. Terry Gray easily took the second spot over Turpen, while defending points champion Shane Morgan nursed his still sick # 01 J & J chassis home fourth. Jeff Willingham brough the # 28 injected sprinter home in fifth over 13th starting Tony Agin in his first 360 start aboard a newly purchased XXX chassis.

Morgan stated via telephone after the event that his car was still suffering the effects of an earlier crash this season, hoping this short break in the schedule could get them back on track.  Miller still wasn't sure what broke ending his night, but expressed relief that he hit no harder than he did.  Turpen showed her mettle on a late race restart by muscling her way back by Morgan, who had briefly wrestled his ill handling machine in to the third spot.

Next up for the Southern Outlaw Sprinters will be a two night winged speed fest at the newly reopened Underwood Speedway in Chatham, LA on May 8th and 9th.  The Southern Outlaw Sprinters would like to thank all of the 2015 Series Sponsers, Hoosier Tire, Saldana Racing Products, Smileys Racing Products, Eagle Motorsports, dryslick.net, Fireade 2000, J&J Auto Racing, Southern Trailer Works, Ultrashield Race Products, Tim's Engines, Schoenfeld Headers, Manikis Racing Parts, AutoMeter and Rock Auto.
