Riley Hickman Bags Biggest Career Win; East Tennessee Weekend Up Next

Cleveland, Tennessee (11/17/14) – It was a more than memorable weekend for Riley Hickman and his BIF Motorsports/Hickman Manufacturing #R1CVR Race Cars team as he claimed the richest payday of his career in the annual Deep Fried 75 at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee).

"This is just incredible to get this big win," Hickman said in an emotional victory lane after winning his sixteenth feature of 2014. "I couldn't have done this without the support of Urkel (Brad Carvin), my wife, kids, and my dad. He was a big inspiration for me in my career, and I know he's smiling down from heaven proud tonight."

A cold November weekend saw thirty-three Super Late Models converged on the 1/4 mile oval for the event, which was sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series. Hickman posted the quickest lap in his group during time trials on Friday evening to lock into the pole position for his heat race. Unfortunately, freezing track conditions would force the scheduled heat races to be moved to Saturday afternoon.

When racing resumed on Saturday, Riley charged to a convincing heat race victory, earning him the outside-front-row starting spot alongside Ray Cook for the 75 lap finale. When the race went green, Hickman assumed the point and never looked back, leading flag-to-flag to bag the $11,000 payday over Dale McDowell, Steve Casebolt, Josh Putnam and Anthony Burroughs.

"The conditions definitely played into our hands as our open motor wasn't ready, so we came here with our steelhead engine," noted Hickman. "To beat this caliber of competition really means a lot, and again I thank all of my great sponsors, fans, and supporters for help making it happen."

Hickman now turns his attention to a big East Tennessee weekend, which will see him competing in a pair of $5,000-to-win events. On Friday night, November 21st the Southern All Star Late Model Series will sanction their final event of 2014 at Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee) as Hickman looks to sew up his second straight series title. Saturday, November 22nd will find a $5,000-to-win event, unsanctioned event being contested at Boyd's Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia). He will also compete in the Crate Late Model division at each facility.

Riley Hickman would like to thank all of his sponsors including Hickman Manufacturing Company, American Billet, RH Designs, CVR Race Cars, Austin Trucking, A-1 Towing and Recovery, Competition Racing Equipment, MRC Racing Components, Vic Hill Racing Engines, Performance Masters Inc., All-Star Graphix, Stealth Racing Carburetors, Hoosier Racing Tires, JRI Shocks, VP Race Fuels, Comp Cams, Weld Wheels, FSR Racing Products, Design 500, Fel-Pro, KRC Power Steering, Wiles Racing Drive Shafts, Old Mans Garage, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.

Todd Morrow Announces New Team; Wins Big at Duck River

Chattanooga, Tennessee (11/17/14) – Right now is an exciting time for Todd Morrow as not only is he fresh off a big win at Duck River Raceway Park, but he is also very pleased to officially announce the launch of a new team for his Super Late Model program.

"Tommy Pope (Pope Construction) and Joey Phillips (Phillips Properties) have been gracious enough to provide me with a great opportunity to drive a Super Late Model for them for the remainder of this season and full time in 2015," notes Morrow. "We've been working on getting everything together for the past month or so, and we didn't want to announce anything until we were officially ready to hit the track."

Pope and Phillips, who both reside in Gadsden, Alabama, have made quite a name for themselves over the past few years throughout the South fielding winning entries for various drivers, including Ronnie Johnson, Ray Cook, and Dingus Griffin.

Morrow will make his debut in the Pope Construction #T1 Phillips Properties/Warrior Super Late Model this weekend, November 21st-22nd with a big doubleheader in east Tennessee. On Friday night he will go into battle with the Southern All Star (SAS) Late Model Series in the annual Gobbler at the recently reopened Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee) before competing in an unsanctioned $5,000-to-win event at Boyd's Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) on Saturday evening. He will also pilot the A-Plus Motorsports/GRT #8A Crate Late Model entry at both events.

Looking beyond this week the team plans for a very busy 2015, which will see Morrow competing for the Southern All Star (SAS) Super Late Model title as well as following the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals tour. When not competing for points the team plans to race in several other big money events throughout the South. The team plans to utilize Warrior Race Cars as well as the new Platinum Race Cars, which Morrow is still developing. The new prototype cars will be run around Todd's Chattanooga home base, when his schedule allows.

All of Morrow's current sponsors are excited for the opportunity and have already committed to the 2015 season.

"We are really glad to have Andy Dill Trucking, Allen's Pools, A-1 Towing, and Phillip Baxter of A-Plus Collision Center returning to sponsor our team in 2015," says Todd. "I'll still be driving for Phillip (Baxter) in his #8A crate car next year too. It's going to be a busy and hopefully successful year." He concludes by noting, "I'm really excited about what's to come and where this next year can take us in racing."

Last Saturday night Todd Morrow piloted his A-Plus Motorsports/GRT #8A Crate Late Model to victory lane during the annual Deep Fried 75 festivities at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee). Twenty-eight entries took to the 1/4 mile oval for the $1,500-to-win program, and via qualifications Morrow earned the pole position for the 30 lap finale. In the main event Todd charged to his sixth win of the season over Jay Brinkley, David Gentry, Billy Flannagan Jr. and Robert Stutts.
