Billy Moyer Jr. Announces Indefinite Leave from Racing

Batesville, Arkansas (04/20/15) – Sometimes in life you have to take a step back to evaluate what’s really important and where your true focus needs to be. For Billy Moyer Jr. this self-evaluation has led to his decision to take an indefinite leave from racing.

“I’ve been around racing my entire life, and I’ve come to a point where I just need a break to focus on different priorities,” said the 27-year-old. “Plain and simple my heart is just not in it right now. It’s not fair to my team, my sponsors, my crew, or my fans to keep going if I’m not giving it 110% each and every night.”

Moyer Jr. grew up at the track with his Hall of Famer father, Billy Moyer, and began his own racing career nine years ago in 2006. He has enjoyed success along the way and picked up support from amazing sponsors.

“I’ve got more sponsorship help than I’ve ever had in my career, and I’m so grateful to them. On the same token I couldn’t sleep at night knowing that I was accepting their sponsorship and not giving them my total effort in return.” He goes on to say, “I want to sincerely thank Steve Martin with Crop Production Services, Royal Jones at Mesilla Valley Transportation, my grandfather (Bill Moyer), and an ongoing list of amazing people. I’m truly indebted for the great support they’ve given me. I’ve already spoken with many of my sponsors about this decision, and they fully support me in doing what’s best for my future.”

While Billy hasn’t completely ruled out returning to racing one day down the road, for now it’s not on the radar. He will continue to work on projects with Karl Performance as well as various consulting programs.

He notes, “I’ve come to realize that I need to put my family, loved ones, and friends first in my life. I want to give back to them before any more time slips away. From going to birthday parties to tee-ball games to family gatherings, I want to more involved in their lives. It’s who I want to be. If racing comes into the picture again down the road, then so be it, but for now it’s no longer my top priority.”

This decision hasn’t been an easy one, but Moyer Jr. has no doubt it’s the right one.

“I’m going to definitely miss seeing so many of my friends at the track, and I’m sure at some point I will miss driving as well. I just really want to thank all of my great family, friends, fans, and sponsors, who have stood behind me. I hope everyone can understand that this is something that I have to do.”

Billy Moyer Jr. would like to thank all of his sponsors including Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn, Crop Production Services, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Dyna-Gro Seed, Car City, All Makes Collision Center, Bad Boy Mowers, Karl Performance, Karl Kustom Corvettes, Pro Power Racing Engines, ROCKHARD Powder Coating, Eibach Springs, Sunoco Race Fuels, Rock Batteries, Weld Wheels, COMP Cams, Imperial Motors, Red Line Oil, Sparks Motorsports, Bert Transmission, New Vision Graphics, Watters Autoland, Performance Rod & Custom, Midwest Sheet Metal, Peterson Fluid Systems, Mason Starters, Sweet Mfg., Fikes Truck Line, MSD Performance, Wiles Driveshafts, Cizmar Racing, Performance Bodies, Hoosier Tire South by Pup, ISC Racing Tape, Stealth Carburetors, Oakley Deatherage Opticians, Wilwood Engineering, Frankland Racing Products, Hooker Harness, Kluhsman Racing Components, BSB Manufacturing, Beyea Custom Headers, Sunoco Race Fuels, R2C Competition Filters, TWM Products, Hawk Performance Products Group, Scott Performance Wire, CPD Tools, AFCO, Design 500, Accu-Force Shock Service, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.

Riley Hickman Races to Fourth Win of ’15; Smoky Mountain Next

Cleveland, Tennessee (04/20/15) – Riley Hickman pulled double duty on Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee), where he came away with his fourth triumph in 2015 in his BIF Motorsports #R1 Hickman Manufacturing Company/CVR entry.

Hickman rolled to his fourth victory of the season in the Limited Late Model division, earning $2,000 for his efforts. Riley locked into the 40-lap main event after posting the eighth fastest lap in time trials. In the main event he took the lead from race-long pacesetter, Cory Hedgecock on the 28th circuit and never looked back. He took the checkered flag ahead of Hedgecock, Jason Trammell, Stanley Donahoo, and Trevor Sise.

The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series sanctioned the annual Spring Thaw, which boosted a $6,000 winner's check. With the top ten qualifiers once again locking into the main event, Hickman fell just short of the mark and had to run a b-main. He went on to win his b-main, earning him the eleventh starting position on the feature grid. Riley ultimately retired early from the 50-lap finale to a disappointing 22nd place finish.

Full results from the event are available at www.VolunteerSpeedway.com and www.CarolinaClash.com .

The upcoming weekend, April 24th-25th, will take the team to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for a pair of big events. On Friday night the Southern All Star (SAS) Super Late Model tour will sanction a $5,000-to-win event, while Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals will contest a $6,000-to-win program on Saturday evening.
