Jeff Taylor Sweeps Batesville Motor Speedway Triple Header Weekend

Cave City, Arkansas (03/22/14) - Jeff Taylor completed a career first over the weekend in his #5 Jeff Taylor Racing/Industrial Electric/Provence Construction/New Vision Graphics/Taylor Chassis/Mullins Race Engines as he swept all three nights of the 18th Annual Mid-America Modified Championship at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas).

Action opened on Thursday night as twenty-four entries looked to take a stab at a program that boasted a $1,500 top prize. Jeff started the night off by winning his preliminary heat race and going on to win the dash, which left him starting third in the feature. In the main event, he would quickly motor his way forward, and with an extreme slide job overtook the top spot from early leader, Ken Schrader. Taylor remained untouchable in the closing laps to score the win over Schrader, Spencer Wilson, Richie Tosh, and Jared Siefert.

When action ratcheted up on Friday night for round #2 of the three day affair, Jeff struggled early and found himself rolling off from the 21st starting spot in the $1,500-to-win main event. During the course of the feature, Taylor rocketed from deep in pack to claim the victory in a thriller ahead of Richie Tosh, Marlon Sidler, Brandon Smith, and Shawn Walsh.

On Saturday evening, Jeff unloaded his #5 Open Wheel Modified at the 3/8 mile speed plant in pursuit of his third straight win in the finale of the three day program. In the main event, Taylor reached victory lane once again over Richie Tosh and Shawn Walsh with Tyson Franks and Spencer Wilson rounding out the top five.

"I've never won three events in a row at any track, so this was a special weekend for me," said Taylor. "Hats off to my crew for busting their tails all weekend, and I also have to thank my sponsors for their great support!"

Riley Hickman entered familiar territory on Saturday night by competing in the annual Shamrock 50 at Boyd's Speedway.  The $5,000-to-win, Southern All Star Racing Series sanctioned event drew forty-five entries to the 1/3 mile oval, and Riley started his evening by posting the overall fastest lap during qualifying locking him into the pole position for the 50 lap finale.

"We had a really good year in 2013, but so far 2014 has been that much better," noted Hickman.  "We've had a few issues of bad luck, but overall this car is rolling great." He concluded by saying,  "I have to give a great deal of credit to my crew and sponsors for their support."
