FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Riley Hickman Scores Second-Straight Cabin Fever 40 in Dominating Fashion at Boyd’s Speedway By Chris Tilley, CT Marketing RINGGOLD, GA (January 31, 2015)—Riley Hickman scored his second-straight Cabin Fever 40 victory on a cool late-January evening at Boyd’s Speedway. The Chattanooga, Tenn. driver led all forty laps for the $3,000 payday. Hickman held off Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., Pierce McCarter of Sevierville, Tenn., Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn. and Jason Hiett of Oxford, Ala. for the victory. Hickman had one series threat from eventual runner-up Donald McIntosh as on the 22nd lap, Hickman got bobbled up behind lapped cars in turn two and got out of the groove. Meanwhile, McIntosh would grad the lead on the low line going down the back-chute and take the lead coming to the 23rd lap but a yellow flag for Derek Ellis coming to a stop in turn four ended McIntosh’s feat to the front of the field as he had to restart in second for the re-start when the field was re-aligned. Five caution flags slowed the main event. The first yellow was on lap 12 as Adam Martin went around in turn two and his night was over as he had to be towed in to the pits with mechanical woes. The next yellow flag was on lap 15 as Tony Knowles came to a rest at the top of turn four. The next lap, the yellow would wave as Ryan Gifford would spin his Team Dillon Racing entry in turn two. Gifford was running just outside the top-five at the time of the yellow. On lap 22 Derek Ellis came to a rest at the top of turn four and the final yellow would wave on lap 26 as third place runner Ray Cook came to a stop after engine failure. Track crews had to go to work quickly as speedy dry had to be used all around the speedway after Cook’s mount leaked oil around the top of the track. Hickman, the defending SAS Champion and former SRRS champ drove the Hickman Manufacturing, American Billet, Austin Trucking, Tucker’s Mobile Home Service, VP Race Fuels, Rick Hixson Fabrication and Competition Race Products-sponsored Vic Hill Racing Engines powered CVR Race Car to the event win. Boyd’s Speedway will return to action on Saturday evening March 21st with the $4,000-to-win Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned event. Its part of a double-header weekend with Cleveland (Tenn.) Speedway which will host the series on Friday Night March 20th paying $4,000-to-win.
