Hagar Captures Top 10 during Inaugural GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Diamond Event

Inside Line Promotions - WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (April 19, 2016) - Derek Hagar struggled with a tight race car Saturday night during the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Diamond Region's inaugural event at Riverside International Speedway.

The night began on a solid note as Hagar powered from seventh to third place during a heat race at the high-banked oval. That put him fourth in overall points and starting on the outside of the second row for the main event.

"We had the car way too tight," he said. "I could hardly get on the throttle without picking the front end up. We fell back to sixth and a couple of cars tangled up so we got up to third. I tried to run the middle, but couldn't do it. The more the race went on the worse it got. I kept getting passed. It was not a good night for us. That place has a tendency to knock you off Cloud 9 pretty quickly. Luckily we didn't tear anything up and we finished the race."

Hagar held on for a ninth-place result, which marked his eighth top 10 of the season.

He is scheduled to tackle a USCS Series doubleheader this Friday at I-75 Raceway in Niota, Tenn., and Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn.

"I don't see why we shouldn't be sitting in Victory Lane at least one night if not both," he said. "We have a good car and good equipment. We need to put the thing in Victory Lane and pad the bank account with some more money."

Hagar hasn't ever competed at I-75 Raceway, but he was victorious during his most recent race at Smoky Mountain Speedway in May 2012.

April 16 - Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. - Heat race: 3 (7); Feature: 9 (4).

Hanks Registers Second Triumph of the Season during Debut in Sedalia

Inside Line Promotions - SEDALIA, Mo. (April 19, 2016) - Brandon Hanks had to wait a little more than three years between victories prior to last month's triumph.

This time he only waited a little more than three weeks before returning to Victory Lane on Sunday during his debut at Missouri State Fair Speedway with the ASCS Warrior Region.

"This is a complete 180," he said. "I don't know how to act other than just humbled. Now we have the confidence we can run up front and win these races. We know the first one wasn't a fluke."

Last Sunday began with Hanks advancing from third to second place in a heat race, which locked him into the feature redraw.

"I was the second-to-last driver to draw and there was a No. 1 and a No. 5 in the bag," he said. "I drew the dang five. I was a little concerned that if the track rubbered up I'd be in trouble. But we had a really, really good car. I could roll just fine. I knew you couldn't get off the bottom so almost the whole race I was taking it easy and trying to save my tires."

Hanks capitalized on mistakes from other drivers during the first half of the race.

"(Josh) Baughman had a slip up with Cody Baker so that put us in third," he said. "Cody slipped up and went to the outside and I went by for second place. Jonathan (Cornell) was pulling away and I let him go. As hard as he was driving I thought he'd wear his stuff out and I'd have some for the end. He hit a lapped car and flipped about midway through the race. I felt pretty confident I had a good bit (of my tires) left. I knew as long as I didn't get off the bottom I'd be fine. We made it and it turned out going slower was faster. We pulled away a good bit."

Hanks took advantage of the opportunity as he won by a straightaway on the half-mile oval.

Last weekend began on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where Hanks qualified 14th quickest before placing fifth in a heat race. That locked him into the 14th starting position for the main event.

"I need some laps there in a bad way," he said. "It always takes me until after the heat race to get in the swing of things at that place. It's kind of its own animal. The biggest thing is I need to make some more laps there.

"We had a pretty good car, but I made some mistakes that hurt us. We were holding our own in the A Main. I gained a few spots on the start and then I lost a few on a restart. I was catching someone and when I got to him I started running the top. As I moved up it was almost like he had a mirror. He moved up with me and when he did I had to roll out of the throttle to keep from running into him and I slid up and hit the wall. It was late in the race so I decided to pull in at that point."

Hanks was credited with a 21st-place result.

He will return to action this Friday at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., and Saturday at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo., with the ASCS Red River Region.

QUICK RESULTS -

April 16 - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa - Qualifying: 14; Heat race: 5 (3); Feature: 21 (14).

April 17 - Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. - Heat race: 2 (3); Feature: 1 (5).

Blaney Wins All Star Opener, Marks 16th Straight Season with All Star Victory

Inside Line Promotions - BEDFORD, Pa. (April 19, 2016) - Dale Blaney claimed the opening points race of the season with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions last weekend to give him at least one win during each of the last 16 years with the series.

"You always want to win your next race," he said. "It doesn't matter if it's your first, the 15th or the last one. We have such a strong team and I feel like we should put ourselves in position to win every night. We're not slowing down and hopefully we can keep this pace rolling all year."

The Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team kicked off last weekend's All Star tripleheader on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio.

Blaney qualified second quickest, won a heat race from the outside of the second row and picked up the dash victory to earn the pole position for the 40-lap main event.

"It was tough in the feature," he said. "When you get out there and lead early, we knew the track was going to change a little bit. I was searching and Chad (Kemenah) went by. It showed me that I needed to pick up the pace and run in a little different spot. Fortunately I got back by him and the track rubbered up the last 20 laps."

Blaney led the first 14 laps before Kemenah took the top spot for the ensuing two circuits. However, Blaney regained the lead in traffic on Lap 17 and powered to his sixth straight season with an All Star win at Attica Raceway Park.

The team headed to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, on Saturday, when Blaney timed in second quickest and placed third in both his heat race and the dash. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

"I just didn't get a good start in the feature," he said. "I fell back to fourth on the start. I was better than (Danny) Holtgraver at times and he got better than me toward the end. I don't think we had anything for Jac (Haudenschild). That's not our best place to run so to come out of it with a third is great."

Blaney finished third to continue the momentum into Sunday's weekend finale at Bedford Speedway.

"The car jumped out of gear comping to the checkered right before the line in qualifying," he said. "It rung the motor up pretty hard. That hurt the motor a little bit. I didn't think it did, but we ran it in the heat race and it was on six cylinders."

Blaney qualified 10th quickest and he placed third in a heat race to miss transferring into the dash by only one position. That started him on the inside of the seventh row for the feature.

"It went non-stop," he said. "I felt like my car was good. It was just hard to pass. I felt like I got what I could get."

Blaney advanced from 13th to eighth, which was tied for the second-most cars passed.

He currently ranks second in the All Star championship standings - only 10 points out of the lead - as the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed team heads to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on Friday prior to All Star races on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., and Sunday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa.

QUICK RESULTS -

April 15 - Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio - Qualifying: 2; Heat race: 1 (4); Dash: 1 (2); Feature: 1 (1).

April 16 - Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio - Qualifying: 2; Heat race: 3 (4); Dash: 3 (3); Feature: 3 (3).

April 17 - Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa. - Qualifying: 10; Heat race: 3 (4); Feature: 8 (13).

SEASON STATS -

15 races, 2 wins, 10 top fives, 14 top 10s, 15 top 15s, 15 top 20s
