Hanks Hoping Luck Falls His Way This Weekend During Winter Nationals at Devil's Bowl

Inside Line Promotions - CORLEY, Texas (Oct. 11, 2016) - Brandon Hanks is hopeful this weekend goes a little smoother than last.

Hanks will head to Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, to tackle the Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour this Friday and Saturday. The races are co-sanctioned with the ASCS Red River Region, which Hanks leads the championship standings in by 147 points with only four races remaining.

"Hopefully we can put together a couple of consistent nights and be toward the front when the checkered flag waves," he said. "We've had some good runs at Devil's Bowl, but it's a tricky track that you can get behind at really quickly so we'll need to be on top of our game all weekend."

Hanks is coming off a disappointing finish last Saturday at Timberline Speedway, which hosted an ASCS Red River Region event.

"We tried some things to start out and it didn't work," he said. "We got away from it again for the feature and went back to a normal thing."

Hanks, who finished fifth in a heat race after starting on the outside of the second row, lined up 10th for the main event.

"The track was one lane and rubber around the bottom," he said. "We just sat there and rode. We got to seventh or eighth for a little while. Then I had a right rear tire go flat and I had to pull off. I didn't get any courtesy laps because I think it was after the halfway point and I ended up finishing 12 th so it was a bummer."

Hanks was credited with a 12th-place result.

Blaney Records Runner-Up Result With All Stars at Eldora

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (Oct. 11, 2016) - Dale Blaney picked up his 35th top-five finish of the season last Saturday at Eldora Speedway.

The podium finish helped the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed CH Motorsports team close the gap to Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions points leader Chad Kemenah, whose advantage is only 18 points entering the final event of the season in two weeks.

"The only thing we can do is run the best we can and I felt like we did," Blaney said. "We probably had the heat race of the year in our heat. We had 10 really good cars in our heat. I think (Aaron) Reutzel and (Caleb) Helms were the last two cars in our heat race and that's pretty impressive."

Blaney opened the event by qualifying eighth quickest overall and third in his group, which lined him up on the outside of the front row for the heat race.

"The heat race went ok," he said. "We weren't very good the first couple of laps and then got better. Sammy (Swindell) got by me at one point and we got back by him. We ran second to put us in the dash."

Blaney's runner-up result locked him into the dash. Unfortunately, he drew the highest number - eight - during the dash draw to start on the outside of the fourth row.

"The dash draw didn't go the best," he said. "There were two cards left in there and Kemenah and I had to draw. I drew the eight and left him the one. I felt like that was ok. In that instance I felt better starting eighth than first because I felt like I could see who was good in front of me and it worked out ok."

Blaney advanced from eighth to fifth place in the dash, which lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

"We jumped right into second," he said. "Rico (Abreu) and I were pretty equal the first eight or 10 laps. The track started rubbering up in turns three and four and then turns one and two did the same with about 10 laps to go. If it stayed slick we had an opportunity to win."

Blaney ended with a second-place finish.

He is scheduled to tackle a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader in Central Pennsylvania this weekend. He will race on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the National Open and on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal.

"We're going to try to head over and compete," he said. "We've run once at Williams Grove this year and ran pretty well. A one-night show for the National Open is going to be tough. We have a really good car. Our motor is really good. Hopefully we'll be good every time out. My dad won that race a long time ago, back in 1966. This is 50 years later so that's pretty neat.

"Port Royal is always fun. We run well there. I feel like we have a good opportunity to go over there and do well."
