Donald McIntosh Dominates 6th Annual Hangover 40 at 411 Motor Speedway

By Michael Despain, CT Promotions

SEYMOUR, TN (January 1, 2016)- There’s no better to ring in the new year than with a dirt track racing event and 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN would do just that as the track presented the 6th Annual Hangover 40 event on New Year’s Day and Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA would score his second consecutive win in the event by taking the $4,000 payday in the CT Promotions sanctioned contest.  The event saw the largest spectator crowd in the 55 year history of the facility and featured 222 race cars in competition in seven divisions over the course of the one day event representing fifteen states and two countries.

The win for McIntosh would come behind the wheel of the Blount Motorsports owned Blount Excavating/Massey Electric/Al Blankenship Enterprises/Cherokee Millwright/Tennessee RV Sales and Service/Stowers CAT Machinery sponsored #7 Rocket Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine.

Donald McIntosh would take the lead at the start of the event, with Ray Cook and Riley Hickman giving chase, while seventh place starting Jason Hiett would work his way to fourth by lap 6.  The only caution of the event waved on lap 7 as the trio of Mack McCarter, Matt Irey, and Jason Welshan would tangle in turn one, with McCarter parking his mount for the night.  Back underway, Cook would pressure McIntosh for three laps before McIntosh would slowly begin to pull away from Cook.  Meanwhile, Hickman and Hiett would settle into a very entertaining battle for the third position, with Hiett winning the battle for third just before the mid-point of the 40 lap contest.  While all this took place, Dustin Linville had marched to seventh after starting fourteenth, while twenty-first place starter Tommy Bailey had charged to eighth.

The second of the event would see McIntosh work slower traffic to perfection and stretch his to almost a full straightaway at times.  Hiett would drive past Cook for second on lap 25, but would not be able to muster a run to catch McIntosh.  McIntosh would see the checkered flag, with Hiett and Cook completing the podium position finishers.  Hickman would come home fourth, with Bailey’s charge netting him a fifth place finish.  The remainder of the top ten would be Linville, Joe Leavell, Corey Hedgecock, Stacy Boles, and Jason Manley.
