Eric Cooley Competes at East Bay Raceway With NeSmith Series

Fulton, MS (2/26/08) – Eric Cooley made the trek to East Bay Raceway in Tampa, Florida over the weekend to compete in a triple header with the NeSmith Late Model Series.

On Thursday night, 51 Crate Late Models signed in to do battle, but rains moved in prior to hot laps nixing the evening’s event.  The event was rescheduled for Saturday afternoon.

On Friday night, Eric timed in 16th out of 55 entries. He then went on to win the second heat race, which earned him a 12th starting spot in the feature. Cooley was running strong in the feature, when he lost the spring cup which caused the shock to fall and it broke part of the nose piece off allowing mud to cover the radiator. With the radiator covered in mud, the car began to overheat and Eric was forced to retire from the event on lap 21.  He was credited with a 20th place finish.

This Saturday, March 1st, Eric will be in action in the season opener at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi in the Late Model Stock division.  Eric was the 2007 Late Model Stock Track Champion at Columbus Speedway and picked up several wins at the high-banked, 1/3 mile oval along the way.  For more information, please visit www.EricCooleyRacing.com .
