Morgan Bagley Bounces Back in WoO Action; World 100 Next

Longview, Texas (09/07/16) –  It would be a giant understatement to say that the 2016 season has been a rough one for Morgan Bagley. However, the Texan bounced back over the Labor Day weekend with a trio of strong runs in his P&W Sales #14m Black Diamond by Club 29/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“This year has left us all scratching our heads,” laughed Bagley. “We just haven’t been able to get much to go our way, but we haven’t given up. We’ve made a lot of changes to our car, and it’s all finally starting to work out. I just appreciate my team for standing behind me and working through these challenges. I really believe we are finally headed in the right direction.”

Returning to competition with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series  over the course of the Labor Day weekend, Morgan Bagley traveled to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) on Friday night for the opening round of the two-day Working Man Weekend. In a field of 33 Super Late Models, Bagley qualified 11th fastest in his group, earning him the 11th-starting spot for one of two qualifying features. Working his way into the Top 5, Morgan improved seven positions in the 25-lap, opening night A-Main, registering a 4th-place finish behind Rick Eckert, Brian Shirley, and Frank Heckenast Jr. with Chub Frank finishing 5th.

On Saturday night for the 75-lap main event, Morgan rolled off the starting grid in the 5th position via his performance in the qualifying feature the previous night. With $20,000 on the line, Bagley captured a runner-up finish behind Jimmy Mars with Billy Moyer Jr., Rick Eckert, and Mike Norris rounding out the Top 5.

Wrapping up the busy weekend, Bagley stopped at Selinsgrove Speedway (Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania) on Sunday for the 18th annual Jeff’s Auto Body and Recycling Center Late Model National Open. Sending the Top 4 out of the heats to the feature event, Morgan posted a 3rd-place finish, earning him the 11th-starting position for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top 10, Morgan Bagley advanced four positions in the 40-lapper, notching a 7th place finish.

Morgan currently resides ninth in the WoO points standings. Full results from these events as well as the latest standings are available at www.WoOLMS.com .

Action opens with twin $10,000-to-win features on both Thursday and Friday before the weekend comes to a climax with the $49,000-to-win finale on Saturday evening.

“We said that if we ran well at Lernerville and Selinsgrove that we would go to Eldora, and we really had a great weekend, so now we’re headed to the Big E,” said Bagley. “Hopefully we can make some noise this weekend and let everyone know that we are a contender again.”

Hanks Shows Improvement Throughout All Star Debut During Weekend in Ohio

Inside Line Promotions - ORRVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 6, 2016) - Brandon Hanks is pleased with his Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions debut last weekend in Ohio.

"Boy, it's tough," he said. "I had fun. It was extremely nice, too. It was very welcoming. We can't wait to get back there."

1The doubleheader began on Saturday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, where Hanks competed in a 410ci sprint car for only the fourth time in his career. He qualified 31st quickest overall and sixth in his group before placing sixth in a heat race to miss locking into the main event by only one position.

Hanks ended the night 11th in the B Main.

"We screwed ourselves up car-wise," he said. "We were a whole lot closer in the B Main, but we still weren't right. The car was real tight. It wasn't comfortable. We figured out what we were doing wrong and got that fixed for Sunday."

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Wayne County Speedway. Hanks timed in 19th quickest overall and eighth in his group. He picked up a position to place seventh in a heat race before maneuvering to a runner-up result in the B Main to transfer into the back of the main event.

Hanks battled inside the top 20 throughout the feature before posting a 19th-place result.

"I'm pleased with the improvement," he said. "We made a big dent in it. The car was so much better and I was a whole lot more comfortable and confident. We went the right way. I've got to thank Dale Blaney. I got to ask him some questions and he told me it was going to be really dusty and hard to see. The first five to seven laps it was hard to see. He said your best bet is to run the bottom and the middle. Everything he predicted was what happened.

"Those guys are tough. The locals are just as good as the Outlaws and All Stars that show up at those tracks. That's what we're looking for. We'll be going back to try to learn more. I learned a lot. We get a little better every time we run a 410. It just takes a little trial and error. I need to learn more. We need some seat time."

Hanks will return to 360 competition this Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, with the ASCS Red River Region. He enters this weekend leading the championship standings by 168 points with only four races remaining.

Hagar Overcomes Early Incident to Record 30th Top 10 of the Season

Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 6, 2016) - Derek Hagar rebounded from an early incident on Saturday at I-30 Speedway, where he rallied from the back to post his 30th top 10 of the season.

Hagar kicked off the night by maneuvering from eighth to fourth place during a heat race.

"It started out by drawing the worst pill you could and starting at the back in a heat race," he said. "The track was fast and around the top. Once we got strung out it was follow each other around the top."

That lined Hagar up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

"The car was real tight early," he said. "I was waiting on the track to go away. I passed a car and they spun me out and I had to go to the back about Lap 13."

Hagar was competing for a top five when another car turned him around to bring out a caution near the midpoint of the feature. He restarted at the back of the pack.

"We kept having cautions," he said. "They have a rule with five cautions you go green white checkered. I think on Lap 18 I was eighth and they said green white checkered over the radio under a caution. The car really started coming in good and I could run a line nobody else was running. We got two more on the restart before the race ended early. I would have liked to see it go the full 25 laps to see where we could have finished."

Hagar ended with a sixth-place result.

"It was the first time we went to I-30 Speedway all year," he said. "It was a good weekend. The car was fast. I think that will carry on when we return there."

Hagar is up in the air about his race plan for this weekend.

QUICK RESULTS -

Sept. 4 - I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. - Heat race: 4 (8); Feature: 6 (8).
