Tyler Clem Notches Runner-Up Finish at BRP

St. Petersburg, Florida (08/31/16) –  14-year-old, Tyler Clem fought his way to a hard-earned, runner-up finish on Saturday night at Bubba Raceway Park in his Vahlco Wheels #14 Bubba Army/ Rocket Chassis Late Model.

Behind the wheel of his Bubba Army #14 K&N Filters Super Late Model, Tyler Clem visited Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) on Saturday night for a National Late Model Series event. Running a Crate Late Model motor against a field of much more powerful cars, Tyler earned the 3rd-starting spot for the $2,000-to-win, A-Main via his performance in preliminary action.

Early in the 30-lap finale Clem capitalized on a restart to take the 2nd position away from Ivedent Lloyd Jr. as he set his sights on the leader, Mark Whitener. Pulling within a couple of car-lengths of the leader on several occasions, Tyler Clem ultimately landed a solid, 2nd-place finish behind Whitener with Kyle Bronson, Ivedent Lloyd Jr. and Jackie Nosbich rounding out the Top 5.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever worked so hard to get a 2nd place finish, but I’m really proud of our performance,” Clem noted with a big smile after the feature. “We had less power than most of the guys here tonight, but we were able to overcome that disadvantage. To finish second to a guy like Mark (Whitener) with other guys like Kyle Bronson, Ivedent Lloyd Jr., and Jackie Nosbisch behind me really means a lot to me and my team.”

Full results from this event are available at www.BubbaRacewayPark.com .

Clem will enjoy a break from racing over the Labor Day weekend before returning to competition on Saturday, September 10 at Bubba Raceway Park. He will take part in the $3,000-to-win, Modified portion of the 6th annual P.J. Wiggins Memorial. For more information on the event, please visit www.BubbaRacewayPark.com .

Blaney Scores All Star Podium Finishes at Brownstown and Millstream

Inside Line Promotions - FINDLAY, Ohio (Aug. 30, 2016) - Dale Blaney posted a pair of podium finishes last weekend to continue to battle for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title.

Blaney kicked off the weekend on Saturday at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Ind., by setting a new track record during qualifying.

"I think I ran back there in '97, but can't remember a lick about it," he said. "It's a cool place. We laid down a good lap qualifying. That set us up for the rest of the night."

The Mainstream Holdings Inc., backed CH Motorsports team then placed third in a heat race and fifth in the dash to start the main event on the inside of the third row.

"I felt like I was pretty good early in the A Main," Blaney said. "When I got to second Danny (Holtgraver) was out there quite a way. We had one yellow halfway through that bunched us up. It was tough for me to move around. The track was pretty much top dominant. You could get rolling a little on the bottom or middle, but it was hard to make up ground. I had an opportunity if a yellow didn't come out with six laps to go maybe in traffic, but we had a caution. With an open track I was going to run second."

Blaney settled for the runner-up position.

He returned to action the ensuing night at Millstream Speedway, where he once again established a new track record and set quick time during qualifying.

"We went out pretty late in qualifying and set a new track record, that was cool to get that track record," he said. "It's been there for a long time. To beat that and we were almost three tenths better than the field was pretty cool."

Blaney then maneuvered to a second-place finish in a heat race and he advanced a position to end fifth in the dash.

"It had rained a little and it just made the track good enough where it stayed good the whole night," he said. "It was tough to beat the top. You put Sheldon (Haudenschild) on the front row with it top dominant and it's tough to beat him. We didn't have long green-flag runs. We'd run three laps, four laps and the yellow would come out. If it wouldn't have rained it might have got the track a little slicker where it played different, but overall it was a good night."

Blaney capped the weekend with a third-place result.

He enters this weekend's All Star races - Saturday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the Dirt Classic Ohio and Sunday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio - only eight points out of the lead in the championship standings.

Bellm Off to Jackson Nationals after Strong Show-Me Double

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (August 30, 2016) – After a quiet weekend to regroup and refresh, Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team are Minnesota bound for this weekend’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour portion of the Jackson Nationals at the Jackson Motorplex.

It’s a big, half-mile clay oval that the Nixa, MO, racer got his first look at just a few weeks ago.

“Once we got going, the car actually felt pretty good there,” Bellm said of the July 29 Jackson Motorplex outing aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision entry.  “We had good speed in our last two races, hopefully we can continue that this weekend.”

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour portion of the weekend is set for Friday and Sunday night.

Bellm and the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions team come off a weekend that included a top-five finish and another one that should have been.

“It’s always good to know that you’re right there, we feel good about finishing out the rest of the season on a strong note,” Bellm explained.

Bellm’s latest top five in ASCS National Tour competition came in his first visit to Farmington, Missouri’s St. Francois County Raceway on Saturday night, August 20.

And that fifth-place finish could have easily been at least one position or two better.

“We had a late restart that we didn’t need,” Bellm said as he was fourth aboard the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care/Dynotech Racing Engines machine when a final caution flew as he raced to the white flag.

“It sealed the tire up under the caution and we just couldn’t get going on the restart,” Bellm explains.

Bellm still crossed the stripe fifth in his first Farmington visit before shifting back over to Sedalia’s historic half-mile for some Sunday night action on August 21.

And it was another strong outing for Bellm in the Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/Racinboys entry, running among the top five most of the way in the 25-lapper before mechanical issues cut his night short just two laps shy of the checkered flag.

“We ran fourth most of the race,” Bellm said of his third Sedalia start of the year.  “Dude slid me late for fourth and I lost some momentum.  Baughman got by before I could get going, but we were at least going to finish sixth before we had engine problems.”

It was still a strong weekend for Bellm and crew, good enough to give the team hope for optimism going into this weekend’s $10,000-to-win Jackson Nationals.

“We just have to get in position to have a shot at it, then we can go for it,” Bellm wraps up.

2016 Quick Stats:  35 races, 1 win, 12 top-fives, 14 top-tens.

Up Next: Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at the Jackson Motorplex’ “Jackson Nationals” in Jackson, MN, on Friday and Sunday.

Sides Heading to Skagit Speedway and Grays Harbor Raceway This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 30, 2016) - Jason Sides is seeking his first victory with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at a pair of Washington State tracks this weekend.

Sides will compete on Friday and Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger and Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.

"I always enjoy heading to the Northwest every year," he said. "We've had some good runs at those tracks so hopefully we can put together a strong weekend."

Sides has recorded a career-best runner-up result at Skagit Speedway and a career-best fourth-place finish at Grays Harbor Raceway. He finished 11 th and 12th, respectively, during last year's visit to the tracks.

Sides is coming off a two-race trip to North Dakota last weekend. He timed in ninth quickest in his group, placed fifth in a heat race and finished 18 th in the main event last Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. However, Sunday's event at Nodak Speedway was setting up for a great result.

After qualifying 10th quickest, Sides ended fourth in a heat race to line up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

"We had a really good car," he said. "It ended up a bad night for a couple of us there with about three laps to go. We had just passed (David) Gravel for fourth going into turn one. Gravel was under a lapped car and must have spooked him. He turned dead right and I jumped his right rear and flipped. Shane (Stewart) hit the back of me. It tore up a couple of cars."

Sides was on pace for at least a top-five result before the flip resulted in a 16th-place finish.

Hagar Nets 50th Feature Victory Since 2013 Last Saturday at Clayhill

Inside Line Promotions - ATWOOD, Tenn. (Aug. 30, 2016) - Derek Hagar powered to his 50th feature victory in the last three-plus seasons following a win last Saturday at Clayhill Motorsports.

The triumph also added to Hagar's lead in the USCS Mid-South championship standings.

"We started off decent in the dash, but the race track was real narrow early on because they had a lot of rain Friday night," he said. "They worked on it and got the track wider as the night went on."

Hagar finished fourth in the dash before he won a heat race.

"I took the lead early and led every lap," he said. "I was fourth in points and since I was the first heat race winner I rolled the dice for the feature inversion. I drew the four, which put me on the pole."

Hagar ultimately capitalized on the front row starting position, but it wasn't easy.

"We had a good challenge from Dale Howard," he said. "He led the first lap and I got by him right after that. We had a caution about five laps into it. I felt like I was slow on the bottom so I moved my line and he passed me on the bottom. I ran behind him it seemed like forever. About Lap 19 I started moving around and he got a flat tire and I drove by him."

Hagar led the final portion of the race to secure the triumph.

He is slated to compete this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

Dover Hustles to 10th Triumph of the Season for Fifth Consecutive Year

Inside Line Promotions - BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 30, 2016) - Jack Dover reached double-digit wins for the fifth straight season and the seventh time in the last nine years thanks to a victory last weekend.

The triumph was Dover's 10th of the season and it pushed his podium streak during Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints races to eight in a row. He has also won five of the last six features with the series.

"It's great to hit that mark of 10 wins in a season, but we're not ready to stop there," he said. "Hopefully we keep this momentum going. Last weekend was a good one for us."

The action began on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., where Dover won his Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints heat race to lock into the feature redraw. He pulled the third-highest number - six - to start the main event on the outside of the third row.

"Drawing the six kind of killed us," he said. "The track was where you had to start on the front. It was locked down and heavy and fast. We got to third about halfway and rode there the rest of the way."

Dover settled for a third-place result.

He returned to action the ensuing night at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., with the series. Dover advanced from fifth to second place in a heat race to again make the feature redraw. This time he pulled the No. 3 to start on the inside of the second row.

"The track was really good and smooth, but it was locked down and fast," he said. "The Moss Racing Engines power plant was a big factor. I got up to second right away and about three laps into it I took the lead on a restart. We put about a half a lap on second place, but halfway through my nose wing fell down. The car was a handful. Second place closed in, but we were able to hold on for the win."

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway, where Dover finished where he started - third - in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the main event.

"In the beginning of the feature I thought we'd be a 10th-place car," he said. "With about eight laps to go I started running the middle in the corners and passing cars one by one. We were up to fourth, but a red flag came out so I reverted back to fifth. If it would have been 30 laps I think I would have been a competitor for the win."

Dover rallied from 14th to a fifth-place finish, which also earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

"I've got to thank Dave and Steve, who were helping me all week," he said. "When I have guys like that who are experienced it makes my job easier."

Dover is slated to return to 305ci winged sprint car competition this Friday through Sunday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., for the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Nationals. He will drive for Chris Roseland. The duo has three wins together this season, including two at Eagle Raceway.

QUICK RESULTS -

Aug. 26 - I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. - Heat race: 1 (1); Feature: 3 (6).

Aug. 27 - Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D. - Heat race: 2 (5); Feature: 1 (3).
