Hagar Records First Non-Wing Feature Win of Season at Valley Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (May 24, 2016) - Derek Hagar powered to a trio of podium finishes last weekend, including his first non-wing sprint car victory of the season.

The action began on Friday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., where Hagar did double duty by driving his winged sprint car in ASCS Warrior Region competition and a non-wing sprint car for David Korte with the WAR Sprint Car Series.

"We started the night off real good in the winged car," said Hagar, who won a heat race from the pole and started the main event fourth. "I got up to second pretty early and chased the leader down. I didn't have a shot at throwing anything at him. I got close, but the caution came out when we got to lapped traffic. When we went back green we stayed nose to tail. We got into traffic toward the end of the race. I got under him in turns one and two and there was a lapped car in my way so I had to back off. I chased him back down and threw a big move going into turn three on the last lap. I pulled beside him and we drag raced to the line. He got me by about a car length."

Hagar placed second in the main event, which was his third runner-up result of the season.

He had similar success in non-wing action as Hagar advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race before capitalizing on a late-race red flag during the main event.

"We had a long red and we made a lot of changes," he said. "I went from seventh to third in the last eight laps. The changes we made really helped. If we could have had another late caution we could have had second."

Hagar finished third for the fifth time this season.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Valley Speedway, where Hagar and Korte teamed up for another non-wing event. Hagar charged from eighth to third place in a heat race, which lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

"I got up to third pretty quick, got up to second and then had some good runs in traffic catching the leader," he said. "We had a caution a little over halfway. The leader didn't really take off like a normal start and I got into him going into turn one. It wasn't anything real bad and he slipped off the bottom. I opened my entry into the corner, turned underneath and shot under him. He turned down and my right rear ran over his left front. He was upset, but it wasn't anything intentional."

Hagar led for the remainder of the race to capture his sixth total triumph and 14th podium finish this season.

Hagar will kick off the first half of the USCS Speedweek with races on Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss.; Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss.; Sunday at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., and Monday at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tenn.

Dover Picks Up First Podium Finish of Season at Junction Motor Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. (May 24, 2016) - Jack Dover garnered his best finish of the season last Saturday at Junction Motor Speedway, but the result wasn't very satisfying.

Dover kicked off the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints event at Junction Motor Speedway by winning a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That locked him into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 2 to start the main event on the front row.

"Me and Don Droud Jr. switched positions the first two laps," he said. "I was leading and I showed him the line where the rubber was. He got by me somehow and took that line. I was never able to get by him again.

"Later on Droud Jr. got around a lapped car and I got up to that lapped car and I tried everything I could to pass him. Everywhere I went he went. I tried going around him on the outside of a corner and I slid out of the rubber and third place got by me."

Dover ended with a third-place finish, which was his first podium of the season.

"I know a win is right around the corner," he said. "More importantly, we want to send our condolences to the family of the man who passed away at the track on Saturday."

Dover was scheduled to compete on Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon, S.D., but a couple of mechanical issues with his mule and trailer forced him to stay home.

This weekend Dover is slated to compete at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., on Friday with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Tri-State Region, which is hosting twin features. Dover will then drive a 305ci sprint car on Saturday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., for Chris Roseland.

Bergman Earns Second Top 10 of Season at Knoxville

Inside Line Promotions - BRANDON, S.D. (May 24, 2016) - Seth Bergman is racking up as many laps as he can at Knoxville Raceway prior to the 360 Knoxville Nationals in August.

Bergman made his second appearance of the season at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, last Saturday when he kicked off the night by qualifying 13 th quickest.

"For me (qualifying) is not that tough," he said. "It's not a big adjustment to go out and make a couple of good laps. The main thing at Knoxville is trying to get your race car around there with a good time. Knoxville is a beast in itself. It's crucial to set a good time."

Bergman then powered from seventh to fourth place in a heat race and he maneuvered from 11th to an eighth-place result during the main event, which gives him two top 10s in two starts this season.

"I've never been good enough to win there," he said. "That's why we're going there. We race really well there and the race package is coming together. We just need to figure out a few things to get qualifying well."

Bergman wrapped up the weekend on Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway. He rallied from sixth to third place in a heat race and lined up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

"I feel like it was the first night in a while we've had a great race car," he said. "We did our job and put ourselves in a position to win. The way our luck was it wasn't meant to be. We were running third on the first lap and the second-place car got into the fence and started flipping. I had nowhere to go and he came down on top of me."

Bergman was unable to restart the race and he was credited with an 18th-place finish.

This weekend Bergman will return to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday and Badlands Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Big Game Motorsports and Lasoski Sweep National Sprint League Event at Knoxville

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 24, 2016) - Danny Lasoski led Big Game Motorsports to the first clean sweep in National Sprint League history on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

Lasoski set quick time during qualifying before he charged from sixth to win a heat race. He then maneuvered from eighth to claim the main event, which was the Muddy sponsored team's third win of the season and Lasoski's 109th career triumph at the half-mile oval.

"We came out with a different race car with a new Brian Morrison engine that really ran good," he said. "I had the best handling car in the heat race this year. I could maneuver around and we won our heat. With the National Sprint League format it kind of hurt us because we drew a four to invert four rows so we started eighth."

Lasoski quickly advanced from eighth to fourth place during the start of the 25-lap feature.

"The way (Brian Brown) has been running he's a handful," he said. "We knew we had to get going. We had a pretty decent start. The next thing you know here comes Brian. We were racing through traffic and were able to get by him."

Lasoski moved back into fourth place on Lap 9 before he picked up a position during each of the next two laps. He then set his sights on leader Brooke Tatnell, who Lasoski passed on Lap 19.

"I filled the left front and right rear wheels with mud," he said. "I don't know how we came through there. I couldn't see where I was going. The steering wheel was going back and forth. It was a bad shake. We had a caution with three laps to go and I knew we had our work cut out."

Lasoski maintained the top spot during the final laps to record the triumph and take over lead in the National Sprint League championship standings.

The weekend began on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for the $10,000-to-win Folkens Brothers Trucking Spring Nationals with the National Sprint League.

Lasoski qualified seventh quickest and placed fourth in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

"We came through the field," he said. "I got to third and we were racing (Ian Madsen) and (Craig) Dollansky was out there pretty good. We had a restart and I got by Madsen. I just didn't get close enough to work with Dollansky. We definitely wanted to win both nights, but we can't be ashamed running second to Dollansky. He put a good program together at Jackson."

Lasoski earned a runner-up result.

The Muddy backed team will return to National Sprint League competition this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway and Sunday at Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines, Iowa.
