Hagar Extends Podium Streak with Third-Place Result with GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Series

Inside Line Promotions - MOBERLY, Mo. (April 5, 2016) - Derek Hagar continued his podium streak last Saturday at Randolph County Raceway.

Hagar picked up a third-place result during the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series event at the high-banked track to give him a podium finish in all six sprint car races this year.

"It's a big boost of confidence," he said. "Running with the NSL series and running with that group of guys you learn so much. We keep learning every weekend."

Hagar opened the event by charging from eighth to fourth place in a heat race.

"We made the best of the heat race," he said. "There's a unique line you can run at that track. I use it to my advantage. Unfortunately, the sun was a disadvantage in turns three and four so I was having to back my corner up. I think that was part of my problem as far as being able to pass another car or two."

Hagar then finished where he started - fourth - in a qualifier. That gave him the sixth-most combined points and a starting position on the outside of the third row for the $7,500-to-win main event.

"The track was starting to take a little rubber on the bottom," he said. "I rode around trying to save tires for most of the race. About halfway through I started really getting going and passing some cars. It worked out for us."

Hagar spent a majority of the feature running fifth before passing Jonathan Cornell and Brian Brown on back-to-back laps in the final stage to place third.

"They were right in front of me the whole time," he said. "They were getting bound up behind lapped cars. I would plug the hole and get by them. You had to catch lapped cars at the right spot to pass them."

Hagar is scheduled to return to competition this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., with the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints Region.

"We have a lot of momentum going into this weekend," he said. "That's a good race track for us. Hopefully we can go win a couple more shows."

Hagar has won all three events he's competed at the past two seasons at Jackson Motor Speedway.

Rilat Slowed by Mechanical Problem While Running in Top Five at Nolan Wren Memorial

Inside Line Promotions - WILLIS, Texas (April 5, 2016) - Travis Rilat put himself in contention last Saturday at Gator Motorplex before a mechanical problem derailed the team.

Rilat opened the ASCS Gulf South Region event by winning a heat race after lining up on the outside of the front row. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 5 during the random draw to start the Nolan Wren Memorial main event on the inside of the third row.

"We were running fourth and had a fuel fitting crack on us," he said. "The motor just laid down so I pulled right off to keep from hurting it. I think we had a good car to make a run up through there, but that's part of racing."

Rilat, who was on pace for his fourth top five of the season and possibly his second win, exited the track just prior to the midpoint of the feature. He was credited with a 20th-place result.

Rilat is slated to tackle Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., this Friday and Saturday with the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints Region for the first time in his career.

"We've been to a lot of new places," he said. "It's round and has dirt on it just like the rest of them. I think we'll be fine."

Big Game Motorsports Heading to 34 Raceway to Kick Off NSL Title Defense

Inside Line Promotions - MOBERLY, Mo. (April 5, 2016) - Big Game Motorsports is aiming to repeat its remarkable performance from last year.

Danny Lasoski has returned to the seat of the Muddy backed sprint car as the team seeks to defend the 2015 National Sprint League championship, which Lasoski won by an astounding 893 points.

"I'm sure everybody is shooting for our team," he said. "Guy (Forbrook) is working double hard as well as the rest of the guys on the Muddy team. We have the same goals. We want to win every race."

The title defense begins this Saturday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, during the National Sprint League season opener.

"We seem to run well there," Lasoski said. "It has two different corners. I've seen it where there's a top and a bottom, which is what we always want. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we have a great show."

The goal for Saturday is simple: win the race.

"It would be absolutely huge for us," he said. "Last year we didn't start out as well as we hoped. To put a win down would be huge for our team and the start of the NSL season."

The Muddy backed team garnered 13 victories last season, including nine with the National Sprint League.

Meanwhile, Lasoski is coming off a podium finish last Saturday when he powered his own sprint car to a second-place result with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series at Randolph County Raceway.

He kicked off the night winning a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. Lasoski then advanced from third to second place in a qualifier. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for the $7,500-to-win main event.

Lasoski battled between second and fourth for most of the race before he gained two positions with about 10 laps remaining to secure the runner-up finish.

"We came up one spot short," he said. "Hats off to the track owner. The winds were so severe and they tried to not let the track rubber down, but it was out of their hands. When you put Sammy Swindell on the pole on a rubbered track it's usually party over."
