Jake Griffin Set for USAC Midget Debut at DuQuoin

Quincy, Illinois (12/15/15) – 17-year-old Jake Griffin will strap into a USAC Midget for the first time in his career, when he goes into battle this Saturday evening in the Junior Knepper 55 at the Southern Illinois Center.

Griffin will be behind the wheel of a Jody Rosenboom-prepared Midget, which will be sponsored by Vatterott College, People Against Distracted Driving (PADD), Outdoor Power, and Advanced Trading Company.

“This is an awesome opportunity,” said Griffin. “When I started racing I was in the Quarter Midget division, and ever since then I’ve always wanted to race a USAC Midget. Jody Rosenboom, Vatterott College, Outdoor Power, Advance Trading Company, and PADD are making this dream a reality, and I can’t thank them enough!”

The Junior Knepper 55 is a 55-lap race, honoring the famed car number which adorned Walter Knepper’s storied USAC race cars. The event is held inside the Southern Illinois Center (DuQuoin, Illinois). Winners of the event over the years have been a who’s who of racing and include NASCAR champion, Tony Stewart.

This year’s event marks the first time in eight years that the United States Auto Club (USAC) will sanction an indoor event.

“I know that a lot of drivers use this event a tune-up for the Chili Bowl, so there will no doubt be a stacked field of drivers on hand,” commented Griffin. “I couldn’t possibly be any more excited though, and I look forward to giving it all I’ve got.”
