Klint Byars Caps Season with Top Five Finish in Fall Classic

Calhoun City, Mississippi (10/30/13) – Even though it was a much-condensed season compared to the schedule that Klint Byars typically runs in his #5 Southern Belle/K&K Motorsports/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model, he made the most of his outings and capped the campaign over the weekend with a top five finish in the 19th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic.

Due to starting a new business as well as becoming a home owner, the 2013 season hasn't offered many opportunities for Klint Byars to pilot his race car. In fact he only made five starts this year, but in those five starts he scored a win as well as a trio of top fives and four top ten finishes.

His final outing of the season came over the weekend as he made the trek to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) for the 19th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic at the 1/3 mile oval. With a $15,000 prize on the line a strong field of 42 entries took to the facility for the event, and via qualifications Byars earned the 2nd starting spot for his heat race. He would go on to race to a 2nd place finish to lock into the 9th starting spot for the 100 lap finale on Saturday evening.

In the main event Byars enjoyed a great run as he advanced through the field to record a 5th place finish behind race winner, Shane Clanton, Don O'Neal, Steve Francis, and Jeremy Payne.

"I sure hated not getting to race more than I did this year, but sometimes life gets in the way of play," noted Byars. "When we did race we had some good runs, and I definitely look forward to getting back into the full swing of things in 2014!"

Jake Griffin and Bobby Pierce Impressive in Memphis Outing

Quincy, Illinois (10/30/13) – 14-year-old Jake Griffin entered his second-career event with the ARCA/CRA Super Series over the weekend with a trip to the recently reopened Memphis International Raceway (Millington, Tennessee), and he came away with an impressive 8th place finish in his #08 Griffin Motorsports/P.A.D.D./McPike's Pawn Shop entry to show for his efforts.

In qualifications Jake earned the 13th starting spot in the field for the 150 lap finale at the 3/4 mile oval. He quickly found his way into the top ten early in the event, and would sit in the 9th position at the break for the halfway point on lap 75. As the race resumed Griffin continued to run in the top ten and would go on to advance to a strong 8th place finish at the checkered flag.

"We had a great car all weekend, and to get a top ten finish against a field of competitors as strong as this is really exciting," said Griffin. "I can't thank my team, my sponsors, and all of my fans enough for all of their support."

Full results from the racing program are available at www.CRA-Racing.com .

Jake was also joined in action over the weekend by 16-year-old, Bobby Pierce from Oakwood, Illinois, who was making his pavement debut with the JEGS/CRA All-Star tour in an #08 Griffin Motorsports entry. Pierce was also impressive throughout the weekend with a qualifying effort that positioned him starting 9th on the grid for the 125 lap finale. During the course of the event Pierce raced as high as the top five before tire issues late in the race caused him to lose valuable laps on pit road. Despite losing the laps Pierce turned some of the fastest laps of the race and crossed the finish line in 12th.

This weekend, November 2nd-3rd, Jake will make his debut at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville (Nashville, Tennessee) in the 29th running of the All American 400, where he will compete in the Pro Late Model division. The historic event draws many of the nation's top drivers to the 5/8 mile oval each year, and to be able to compete in the program is extremely exciting for Jake and Jake Griffin Racing. Jake Griffin also recently received more exciting news as he received confirmation that his recent wins with the UMP sanction and NASCAR sanction made him the youngest driver to score victories with either governing body.
