Jake Griffin Focuses on Mercy Masters and Mud Summer Classic

Quincy, Illinois (07/01/15) – The past few weeks have been an exciting time for Jake Griffin. The 16-year-old driver has not only been busy behind the wheel, but has also been busy preparing for upcoming major events.

The Quincy, Illinois racer entered the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway (Newton, Iowa) in the MB Motorsports #63 Vatterot College Chevrolet with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) on June 19th. Griffin made history for the team by qualifying 15th on the grid, which marked their best qualifying effort ever. Even though a skirmish near the race’s midway point brought Jake’s outing to an early end, it was a great weekend for the team.

With the Mercy Masters of the Pro’s 144, which is the richest and most prestigious, pavement Pro Late Model race of the year, rapidly approaching on July 4th at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (Lebanon, Missouri), Jake entered a Weekly Racing Series Event at the facility last Saturday. Utilizing the event as a tune-up for the upcoming special, Jake qualified fastest in the field. A full-field invert left Griffin starting 16th on the grid for the finale, but that didn’t prevent him from storming back through the field to register a 3rd place finish in the Brennon Willard Motorsports #08 Super Late Model.

“We used the program to experiment with some setups and other things to get us ready for the Mercy Masters,” commented Griffin. “I’m really excited about our chances to take the big win this Saturday. It would truly be a crowning achievement if we could claim this win against such a star-studded field.”

He concluded by saying, “I have to thank Brennon Willard, and all of our sponsors for their great support. They’ve really provided me with a top-notch ride.”

In less than three weeks Jake will make his third-career, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTWS) and his first on dirt as he pilots an MB Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado's in the 1-800-Car-Cash Mud Summer Classic at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on July 22nd.

“MB Motorsports has provided me with fantastic opportunities this year,” commented Griffin. “I feel like I’ve learned so much from racing with the team at Martinsville and Iowa. Now I’m ready to see what I can do in NASCAR competition on dirt.”
MB Motorsports is the sole surviving original team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Their history with the tour dates back to the inaugural season in 1995.
