Patrik Daniel Conquers P&W SUPR Action at Battleground

Wills Point, Texas (06/17/14) - While the weekend started on a sour note Patrik Daniel turned things around on Saturday night by powering his #75 1st Class Auto Glass/Rocket Super Late Model to the $2,000 win at Battleground Speedway.

After a week away from the track, Patrik resumed competition over the weekend with the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racers (SUPR) Super Late Models in the state of Texas.
A doubleheader was slated for Battleground Speedway (Highlands, Texas) with action kicking off on Friday night in a $1,000-to-win program. Via his preliminary efforts Patrik positioned himself starting sixth on the grid for the main event. Unfortunately, his night would come to a disappointing early end. In true Friday the 13th form, a failed ignition switch before the pace laps began left him dead in the water. Daniel exited to his pit via push truck and was unable to rejoin the field before racing resumed. He was credited with a nineteenth place finish.

Saturday evening saw the winner's check increase to $2,000 as the team looked to put Friday's disappointment behind them. A sixth to third run in heat race action would earn Daniel the seventh starting position in the finale. In the feature Patrik found redemption, topping Rob Litton and Ray Moore for his first victory of the 2014 season. Kevin Sitton and Robbie Starnes completed the remainder of the top five.  The win marks the third of his career in P&W Sales SUPR competition.

"Friday night was a major disappointment, but the win Saturday night sure made up for it," Daniel said with a grin after scoring his first victory of the season.  "This car has been great all year, and finally we are starting to get some good runs to show for it."

Complete results from the event can be found at www.SUPRRacing.com .

It's back to business with the P&W Sales SUPR tour this Saturday at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) as a $2,000-to-win event will be contested at Tracey Clay's 1/4 mile oval.  For more information on the event please at www.SUPRRacing.com .

Ashley Newman Storms to Clash at the Mag Victory

Trumann, Arkansas (06/17/14) –  Upton Motorsports pilots, Kyle Beard and Ashley Newman, enjoyed strong outings over the weekend as they continued their 2014 campaigns.

Ashley Newman traveled to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) over the weekend for the annual Clash at the Mag. On Friday night an $800 top prize was posted for the NeSmith Crate Late Models, as 41 entries filled the pit area. Ashley qualified eighth overall during time trials to lock into the eighth starting spot for the main event. During the course of the feature Newman battled his way to a fourth place finish behind race winner Evan Ellis, Nick Thrash, and Mike Palasini Jr.

On Saturday evening the winner's check was increased to $1,000, with forty-three entries registered for the event. Newman topped the forty-three car field in qualifications to earn the pole position for the feature with Chad McCool alongside. Newman jumped to the race lead early on, only to lose the point to Neil Baggett shortly thereafter. On a mid-race restart Newman overpowered Baggett to regain the top spot. From that point Newman led the rest of the way to the checkers, claiming his ninth win of the season over Daniel Bridgmon, Mike Palasini Jr., Shay Knight, and Kyle Shaw.

"Wow what a weekend we had at Magnolia," said an elated Newman.  "That was a really tough field of cars so to get a win and a fourth was a really big deal.  Again I have to thank the Upton family, my sponsors, and all of my fans for making this possible."

Complete results from the weekend can be found at www.MagnoliaDirt.com .

Meanwhile Kyle Beard and Upton Motorsports entered a pair of $3,000-to-win Mid America Racing Series (MARS) events in Missouri and Oklahoma over the weekend.  Action kicked off on Friday night at Midway Speedway (Lebanon, Missouri), as thirty-four entries took to the oval. Beard locked into the main event via a second place finish in heat race action, and went on to register a second place finish in the finale behind race winner, Jesse Stovall. Jason Hughes, Justin Asplin, and Jacob Magee rounded out the top five finishers.

Saturday evening found the team pitted at Outlaw Motorsports Park (Muskogee, Oklahoma), with twenty-four Super Late Models registered for battle. Preliminary action saw Beard once again finish second in his heat race to earn the sixth starting spot in the finale. In the feature Beard was battle for third when contact from another competitor sent him into the outside wall, bringing his night to an early end.
