Buddy Roncali Memorial Added for Greenville Speedway

Greenville, Mississippi (04/15/15) – Greenville Speedway is proud to announce the addition of a race to its 2015 schedule that will pay homage to one of the biggest race fans that the track ever knew. On Saturday, May 16th the facility will host the inaugural Buddy Roncali Memorial, which will be headlined by a $1,500-to-win, Street Stock race. Roncali passed way in March of this year after complications from a stroke suffered in late 2014.

“Buddy loved going to the races, and he wouldn’t miss a Saturday night at the track,” said his brother, Pete, who is spearheading the organization for the event. “Family and racing meant the world to Buddy, so I wanted to do something special in his memory. It only seemed appropriate that the special something should be a race.”

Roncali, who lived to be 73-years-old, came from a big family, and many of them are expected to attend the event on May 16th.

“Our fans and our racers mean everything to Greenville Speedway,” said track owner, Wesley Washington. “When we lose one of them it’s like losing a member of our own family, so it means a lot to be able to salute one of our fallen brothers.” He concluded by saying, “Hopefully racers and fans alike will all make plans to salute Mr. Roncali’s great life on May 16th.”

For anyone, who would like to sponsor or help with the event, they can contact Pete Roncali at 662-347-0701.

More details regarding the event will be released in the next few weeks.
