Chub Frank Eyes Weekend Of Action Close To Home After Closing Stretch Of World of Outlaws Late Model Series In South

BEAR LAKE, PA – May 16, 2013 – With a weather-plagued four-weekend stretch of World of Outlaws Late Model Series action in the Southeast behind him, Chub Frank is primed for some home cooking this weekend.

The 51-year-old standout known as ‘Chubzilla’ has a busy weekend of local racing planned with visits to McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa., or Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., on Friday night (May 17); Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y., on Saturday night (May 18); and Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pa., on Sunday evening (May 19).

“We gotta try to make some fuel money this weekend after getting rained out so far from home so many times during the last month,” Frank said with a smile. “Really, we’re just hoping to get a whole weekend of racing in. We’re sick of all the rain.”

Indeed, over the past four weekends Frank had five of his nine scheduled WoO LMS events rained out. The list of World of Outlaws wash-outs included April 19 at Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway; April 27 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway; May 3 at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway; May 4 at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway; and May 11 at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Miss. Only the Lavonia event has been rescheduled, for Tues., Nov. 5.

Of the four WoO LMS A-Mains that were completed in the Southeast over the last four weekends, Frank’s best finish was a sixth on April 28 at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Pa. He closed the swing last Saturday night with a disappointing 21st-place finish in the first-ever WoO LMS event at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., which hosted the national tour one day later than scheduled after saturated grounds pushed the program from Friday to Saturday night (and Whynot’s scheduled Saturday-night show was canceled due to heavy Friday rain and a forecast for more).

Frank’s next WoO LMS action will come over Memorial Day weekend when he enters events on May 24 at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, and May 25-26 at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va. (‘Jackpot 100’ featuring a $6,000-to-win 30-lapper on May 25 and a $15,000-to-win 70-lapper on May 26). He is currently tied for 10th in the WoO LMS points standings.
