Chris Ferguson Claims Jack Starrette Memorial Checkers

Mt. Holly, North Carolina (4/22/16) – On Saturday evening Chris Ferguson was finally able to shake the bad luck that has plagued him throughout the early stages of 2016. The Mt. Holly, North Carolina driver piloted his Champion Spark Plugs #22 Longhorn/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $6,022 victory in the Jack Starrette Memorial.

Following the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, Chris Ferguson visited Modoc Raceway (Modoc, South Carolina) on Saturday night for the annual Jack Starrette Memorial. Drawing 23 entries, Ferguson captured a dash victory after posting the fastest time in qualifying. Starting on the pole for the feature, Chris held off a persistent Casey Roberts to pick up his first victory of the season with Roberts, Brandon Overton, Ross Bailes, and Hunter Peacock rounding out the top five. Capturing a $500 check earlier in the night for his dash win, Ferguson was also awarded a $6,022 payday for his A-Main victory.

“Mr. Jack (Starrette) did so much to support racers and racing in this area, and it’s truly an honor to win this race,” commented Ferguson. “Hopefully this means we’ve finally got the bad luck off our back so that we can win several more.”

He concluded by saying, “I want to thank all of my sponsors for their support. I especially want to thank Champion Spark Plugs because this is our first win with them on board. I also want to thank my family, my crew, and all of my great fans.”
