Tyler Erb Wins Again in Mississippi; Fall Classic Next

New Waverly, Texas (10/17/16) – For the second time in October Tyler Erb found himself in victory lane in the state of Mississippi in his First Class Septic #91 Rocket XR1 Chassis /Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. His latest triumph came on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, where he grabbed the $2,000 top prize with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS).

“It was a pretty wild weekend, and I never would’ve thought Saturday night would find us in Mississippi – much less in victory lane there,” said Erb. “Our car was really good, and hopefully we can come back here next week and leave with $15,000.”

On Friday night Tyler Erb invaded Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) for the 36th annual Rhino Ag Dirt Track World Championship presented by Optima Batteries. With 79 entries registered the field was slated to compete in a pair of heat races. Unfortunately, Tyler suffered mechanical issues in his first heat race, bringing an early end to his night. As a result, the team decided to head south to try their luck in a different event on Saturday.

Making the 12-hour trip on Saturday, Tyler returned to action at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioned event. Bringing home his second straight MSCCS victory, Erb outdueled the field in the Mississippi State Championship A-Main, pocketing a cool $2,000 payday.

Full results from the weekend can be found at www.LucasDirt.com and www.StateSeries.com.

Tyler will return to Whynot Motorsports Park this weekend, October 20-22 to chase the $15,000 winner’s check in the 22nd annual Coors Light Fall Classic. The weekend opens with an open practice on Thursday evening, while prelims will be contested on Friday night. The mega-event draws to a close on Saturday evening with B-mains and the 100-lap finale. Big Game Motorsports and Lasoski Tackling All Star Event at Atomic

Inside Line Promotions - WINDOM, Minn. (Oct. 17, 2016) - Big Game Motorsports and Danny Lasoski formed a partnership almost exactly two years ago that has generated four championships and 19 feature victories.

The Muddy sponsored team and Lasoski will return to where they debuted toward the end of the 2014 season as the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions heads to Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, this Friday and Saturday for a $20,000-to-win event.

Lasoski qualified fourth quickest, won a heat race, placed second in the dash and ended second in the main event during the 2014 edition, which marked his last time at the unique high-banked oval.

"You just have to keep your car momentum up around that track," he said. "You have to keep your momentum through the corner and get off the corner as best as you can. That place gives you options. They let it slick off. If you make your race car good you can move around and that's all we as drivers ask for at a track."

The Muddy backed team is down to only two events remaining on the schedule and picking up a win or two is a priority.

"Our plan for every race is to win," Lasoski said. "It's always a big deal to win toward the end of the season so that you give yourself momentum entering the offseason and into the next season."

Lasoski and Big Game Motorsports hasn't competed since Oct. 1 and are coming off four consecutive sixth-place finishes, which helped lock up the National Sprint League championship.

Sides Garners First Top 10 During Williams Grove National Open Since 2011

Inside Line Promotions - PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 17, 2016) - Jason Sides earned his best National Open result in five years last Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, where Sides scored a top-10 finish during the marquee World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event.

Sides opened the night by qualifying fourth quickest in his group, which lined him up on the outside of the front row for a heat race.

"We had a good qualifying effort there," he said. "You want to race, but at the same time our entire goal for the night was to make the two laps of qualifying count. Then we made it through our heat race."

Sides placed second in the heat race to lock himself into the dash, where he ended eighth to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event. The feature began with Sides quickly picking up a pair of positions to run sixth before he dropped several spots during the middle portion of the 40-lap race.

"We stayed on the bottom too long," he said. "The bottom was good there early. With everyone trying to run the top it allowed us to get a couple of spots early. The bottom went away a little bit and the top actually gained speed because you could make speed around the corners.

"On that red flag (on Lap 24) the tires were so blistered that I didn't really want to be running up on the top and have something happen so the last 15 laps I tried to stay around the bottom and keep it out of harm's way if something did happen."

Sides battled inside the top 10 for the remainder of the race and he placed 10th, which was his 27th top 10 of the season with the World of Outlaws. It also marked his first top 10 at the half-mile oval since placing sixth in July 2013 and the result was hsibest during the National Open since finishing seventh in 2011.

"Any time you can make the dash and give yourself a decent starting spot to get a top 10, especially at the National Open, it's a good night," he said.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway, where Sides qualified 14th quickest before he ended fourth in a heat race. That locked him into the 14th starting position for the main event.

"The track stayed fast all night," he said. "The bottom went away pretty quick, especially going into turn one. It had some moisture off turn two, but you really had to slow down to get it. In the feature more cars were out there so the bottom went away quicker."

Sides finished 20th.

He is slated to return to World of Outlaws action this Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Rumble on the River and Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twister Showdown.

Swindell Nets Second-Place Finish at Devil's Bowl During Winter Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 17, 2016) - Sammy Swindell recorded a runner-up result as nearly 50 competitors tackled the Winter Nationals last weekend at Devil's Bowl Speedway.

"It all went pretty smooth," he said. "We knew we had a good enough car to win both nights. Circumstances didn't play in our favor, but that's going to happen sometimes, especially with the format they run. It's a little bit of a lottery what you get at these races when they draw and do the passing points."

Swindell, who was driving for A.G. Rains, opened the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event on Friday by advancing from third to second place in a heat race. He then finished where he started - fourth - in a qualifier to rank 11th in overall points and start the main event on the inside of the sixth row.

"The first night we were able to move up in our heat and then that started us fourth in the qualifier," he said. "The track wasn't very wide and I was trying to pass a guy for second. He slipped up and I had to check up and that let Johnny Herrera get by us.

"The race track was pretty fast and pretty heavy. In the main event it took a while to get through some of the traffic. Every time we had a caution I gained positions on the restart. I'm sure with just a little more time we could have got more than that."

Swindell used a late rally to capture a fourth-place finish, which locked him directly into Saturday's feature redraw.

"That definitely makes it a lot easier for Saturday night knowing we're going to be in the top four," he said. "They left me the No. 2 starting spot because I was the last to draw."

Swindell pulled the No. 2 during the random draw to start the feature on the outside of the front row.

"The track was rubber down around the bottom so you had to be down there," he said. "On the initial start I was on the outside and there was just a lane on the bottom. John Carney II was able to get out ahead of me so I pulled in right behind him. He went to the middle and I drove right under him, but there was a wreck on the frontstretch so we had to start again. After that he made sure he stayed on the bottom and there were quite a few times I was pushing him and clearly faster, but in this case the race track won. There wasn't much we could do. We didn't lap a car until the last lap of the race. There were a couple of times he'd slip and I'd get inside of him, but he'd close the door on me."

Swindell stayed within striking distance throughout the 25-lap main event, but ultimately came up a couple tenths of a second shy of earning the victory. Swindell's second-place finish gives he and Rains nine podium finishes in 10 races together.

Swindell will return to the Blazin' Racin' team this Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Rumble on the River and Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twister Showdown with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

"I think I've won the most races at Lakeside of anybody in a 410 sprint car," he said. "I'm looking forward to going back there and trying to get another win. Salina has been a nice track. I like the track and I'd like to get a win there, too."

QUICK RESULTS -

Oct. 14 - Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas - Heat race: 2 (3); Qualifier: 4 (4); Feature: 4 (11).

Oct. 15 - Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas - Feature: 2 (2).
