Ray Cook Claims $3k for Bill Ingram Memorial Title; Earns Two Additional Top Fives!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA)  The Ray Cook Racing team notched their third feature victory of the 2013 racing season on Saturday night, June 8 at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia!  After earning the pole position for the 'Bill Ingram Memorial' on June 1 before the completion of the show was postponed a week due to rain, Ray Cook took advantage of that starting spot to lead all 35 circuits in the unsanctioned event.  Ray picked up the $3,000 payday by besting Donald McIntosh, Michael Page, Jake Knowles, and Ricky Williams.  Later in the night in the regularly scheduled $1,500 to win program, Ray timed in second quickest during the qualifying session and later moved up a spot in the A-Main to finish fourth in the final rundown.

Ray returned to action on Tuesday, June 11 at the Laurens County Speedway in Laurens, South Carolina.  The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series presided over the 32nd Annual 'Laurens County Shrine Club Benefit' race.  The Brasstown, North Carolina ace laid down the fifth fastest lap during time trials to earn the rights to the inside of the third row for the start of the $3,000 to win main event.  During the course of the 35-lapper, Ray was able to advance to fourth to ultimately finish behind only winner Ross Bailes, Dennis Franklin, and Brandon Overton.  Complete results from all of the recent action can be obtained by clicking on www.dirtondirt.com.

"We have had a pretty good last couple of days," stated Cook earlier this morning.  "I was able to capitalize on the pole position in the Bill Ingram Memorial and get that win.  It is always great to reach victory lane at Dixie - that place has so much prestige and history.  Then we got inverted back to start fifth in the regular show there and it was a good race, but we couldn't get the track position we needed to finish any higher than fourth.  I then made a last minute decision to head over to Laurens last night and there wasn't a lot of passing, but we didn't tear anything up and got us another fourth place finish."

The #53 team now plans to sit idle for the next couple of weekends, as Ray turns his focus to promoting the Tri-County Race Track and to attending Revival at his church.  Ray does plan to return to dirt-slinging competition over the June 28-29 weekend, but the locations and races are currently not set in stone.  Keep logging onto www.raycook53.com to view the latest schedule plans concerning the Ray Cook Racing team!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS)  Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team made their yearly pilgrimage to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on June 6-8 for the 19th Annual 'Dirt Late Model Dream.'  The expanded format at the "Big E" kicked off on Thursday and Friday with Twin 25s.  On Thursday night, Dennis won his heat race in preliminary action, started from the pole of the $2,500 to win feature event, and eventually was credited with a fifth place performance in the 25-lapper behind only winner Matt Miller, Jimmy Owens, Bub McCool, and Scott Bloomquist.

At the hallowed high-banks on Friday evening, Dennis ran second in his heat race and later started the main event from the inside of the fourth row.  The Carpentersville, Illinois star quickly vaulted up to second and overtook leader Chris Madden on the twentieth circuit.  He then led five of the final six laps en route to the $5,000 triumph over Madden, Billy Moyer, Don O'Neal, and Doug Drown!

Things really heated up at the 1/2-mile facility on Saturday, as a whopping $100,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.'  Dennis moved up to third in his loaded heat race to grab the final transfer spot and the seventeenth starting position in the 100-lap crown jewel event.  He then put on a show during the 'Dirt Late Model Dream' by picking off an astounding fifteen competitors on his way to an impressive runner-up effort behind only victor Scott Bloomquist.  The second place finish was Dennis' best career run in the extra distance affair and netted him a cool $20,000 payday.  Full results from the long weekend at Eldora Speedway can be found by logging onto www.eldoraspeedway.com.

"We had a great weekend at Eldora and it was a lot of fun racing up front all three nights," commented Erb following the weekend.  "Of course, everybody wants to win that hundred grand, but we had a good run up through the field and got up to second.  We are going to get one of those big races at Eldora sometime; hopefully, it comes sooner than later.  Our cars and motors and everything is just clicking right now, so hopefully we can keep running up front this week in events at Brownstown and Magnolia."

The Dennis Erb Racing team will not rest on their success from last weekend, as they plan to return to competition this week in a pair of high-profile events.  Dennis is currently en route to the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana for tonight's running of the 'Hoosier Dirt Classic.'  The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals lid lifter tonight at Brownstown will pay $5,000 to the winner.

Dennis will then travel further south to the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on June 14-15 for the annual 'Clash at the Mag.'  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again preside over the two-day show, which starts on Friday with time trials and heat races.  Consolation events and the 100-lap, $20,000 to win main event will then headline the action on Saturday at the Magnolia Motor Speedway.  Dennis comes into the televised event tied for fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.  Additional information on the Brownstown and Magnolia races can be viewed by clicking on www.brownstownspeedway.com and www.lucasdirt.com.

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY)  Josh McGuire and his #41 JMR team celebrated in victory lane for the second time in 2013 on Friday night, June 7 at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio!  Josh, who enjoys an unbelievable win percentage throughout his career at Skyline, started his night off by posting the third quickest lap during the qualifying session and winning his heat race.  After starting third on the grid in the 25-lapper, Josh grabbed the point on lap two and drove away from the field en route to the $1,500 triumph.  The Grayson, Kentucky ace nabbed the first place prize money by besting Rod Conley, Freddie Carpenter, Chris Garnes, and Travis Brookover!

The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening, June 8 for a regular weekly show, which boasted a $2,000 top prize.  Josh laid down the fastest lap during time trials and later won his heat race to earn the pole position for the main event.  "Bad Fast" was then battling Jackie Boggs for the lead in the A-Main when he broke a j-bar and driveshaft, which caused him to retire with heavy damage in the fifteenth position.  Full results from both weekend races can be accessed online at www.skylinespeedway.net and www.portsraceway.com.

The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team will now turn their focus to the 2nd Annual 'Black Gold 50' weekend at Beckley Motorsports Park in Prosperity, West Virginia on June 14-15.  The unsanctioned weekend will be headlined by a $2,000 to win Super Late Model event on Friday night, while Saturday's showdown at Beckley will pay $10,000 to the winner in a 50-lapper.  Additional information on the doubleheader at Beckley Motorsports Park can be viewed by clicking on www.beckleymotorsports.com.
