Rick Eckert Claims $2,500 Win in Hagerstown Speedway Opener; Winchester Next!

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA)  "Scrub" Rick Eckert nabbed his first feature win of 2014 on Saturday night, March 15 in the season opening event at the legendary Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland!  Driving Paul Crowl's #7 machine, Rick moved up six spots in his heat race - despite a missing motor - to finish his prelim in the second position.

After starting the 25-lap feature event from the inside of the third row, Rick was able to grab the top spot from Kenny Moreland on the second circuit and led the remainder of the distance.  The York, Pennsylvania star picked up the $2,500 payday for his 22nd career victory at Hagerstown over Jason Covert, Dan Stone, Kenny Moreland, and Kenny Pettyjohn.  Full results from the 1/2-mile facility can be accessed online at www.dirtcapitol.com.

"It was a good run for us in the first night out in Paul Crowl's equipment," exclaimed Eckert earlier this week via telephone.  "The racetrack was in good shape and you could pretty much run whatever groove you wanted to out there.  Our motor missed quite a bit during the heat race and if it did the same thing during the feature, I was just going to pull back into the pits.  Fortunately, we got things fixed and the motor ran smooth throughout the main event and it got the job done!"

Next up for Rick and the Paul Crowl Racing team will be a visit to Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia this Saturday evening, March 22.  The unsanctioned 'Chiller Thriller' will kick off the 2014 season at Winchester and a $2,500 top prize will be on the line.  The single day affair will be headlined by a 35-lap feature event for the Super Late Models.  Rick and the #7 team reached Winchester Speedway victory lane twice together last year.  Additional information on the 'Chiller Thriller' program can be found by clicking on www.winchestervaspeedway.com.
