DUCK RIVER RETURNS TO ACTION SLM SUNDAY… MEMORIAL DAY CLASSIC: MAY 26th

Wheel, TN (5/19/2013) --- Duck River Raceway Park returns to action this Sunday night for the annual Memorial Day Classic, May 26th. Super Late Models will take to the track for a $3,000 to-Win / $300 to-Start unsanctioned 40 lap race. Scheduled for the Sunday leading into Memorial Day raceteams and fans have time to prepare, for this big event as drivers from around the region are expected to converge on the tight quarter mile Ultra-Fast dirt track.

This Sunday night event has seen exciting finishes over the years where the sports elite have come to race. Recently World of Outlaw racers Tim McCreadie of New York and Eric Wells of Kentucky have claimed victories at “The Duck”. Defending race winner of the Duck River Raceway Park Tennessee Memorial Classic event is North Carolina’s Ray Cook, whom won the event back in 2011. Past previous/recent winners include former two-time Dirt Track World Champion Ronnie Johnson, West Tennessee’s Dane Dacus, Georgia’s Tony Knowles and Mississippi’s Chris Ragan. 

Drivers expected to appear include current track points contenders Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN and veteran Jay Brinkley of nearby Shelbyville. Father/Son duo The English Clan of Kentucky (Terry and Tanner) will likely be on-hand for the action as well as the Lynchburg Lightning driver former Track Champion Daniel Miller. Scott Cook, Tony “The Tiger” Morris and David Seibers all from Middle Tennesse will likely be in attendance for this special event as well.

Former National Champion Dale McDowell recently had a top run at DRRP and could bring his Team Dillon raceteam for the Sunday showcase. East Tennessee’s Vic “The Thrill” Hill has had recent success at Duck River. Hill won the November “Deep Fried 75” $10,000 race late last season. Richmond, Indiana’s Steve Casebolt who’s been on a hot-streak of late with victories in Georgia and Tennessee could bring his D&R Motorsports ride also.

Local divisions scheduled to see action include the a $1,000 to-Win 2 Barrel Late Model division, a $500 to-Win Modified Street, a $250 to-Win Outlaw Pony and Pure Pony races. Rookie Pony’s will also be in action. Prices are $30 in the Pits and $15 in the Grandstands. Pit gates will open at 1PM CST with the drivers meeting set for around 5PM.
