Earl Pearson Jr. Finishes 5th in Ohio Takes Over Series Points Lead, Heading to Lowes Dirt Track This Weekend
ARCHDALE, NC (April 16, 2008)- Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team competed at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, OH this past weekend in a 50-lap $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. Earl would post the 12th fastest lap out of the 52 drivers entered in the event. Earl would finish 3rd in his heat race to earn the 12th starting position in the 50-lap feature event. Earl coming off a big win in the last Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA, was looking to move through the field again for the SPEED Channel cameras that were on hand taping the event for re-broadcast. Earl would move into the top 10 soon after the start and moved into the top 5 after the halfway mark of the feature. Earl would have a fierce battle with Billy Drake for 4th and 5th place over the final 15-laps before settling for a solid 5th place finish at the checkers. By virtue of his 5th place finish and Terry Casey's 19th place finish Earl has taken over the lead in the series national points standings by 5 points over Terry Casey. The 2008 season has become "The Drive for 5" for Earl and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team in quest for 5 national touring series championships in a row.
"I have to really thank my crew for giving me a good car tonight. The track was rough due to all the rain they have had up there but my crew prepared the car to handle the rough surface and finish the event without anything breaking or falling off. My guys really go over the car closely every week to give me the best chance possible to win every week. It was a solid finish for us and we took over the points lead from Terry Casey. To win championships you have finish races and my crew is the best at preparing my cars that we seldom have DNFS", stated Earl.
Earl and the team will now travel to Lowes Dirt Track in Concord, NC to compete in the $50,000 to win Colossal 100 sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Dirt Series. Earl has won at Lowes in past events at the fast racy facility and hopes to earn his biggest paycheck ever this weekend. "I really like coming to the Lowes Dirt Track. I always seem to run well and have won a couple events there in the past. My car owner Bobby Labonte has the weekend off from racing and will attend the events. Its always fun to have him at the races with us and racing close to his race shops in Archdale, NC. It should be an exciting event and hopefully we can take home the winners trophy", stated Earl.

Hottinger Brings Home Top 10 Finish From James King Memorial
H & K Racing
(4-15-08)
(Russellville,AR) The H & K Racing Team was back in action this past weekend. It all started on Friday night as the two made their first trip to the North Alabama Speedway.
The night started on a positive note for both Hottinger & Kirby as they qualified in the top 10, locking them both into the "A" Main. Kirby would carry the torch for H & K all the way up to 6th at one point. Hottinger was able to maintain his starting position as he fought a tight car. Dewaine's night would come to an end when he was slammed in the Left Front corner of his GRT by Frye, smashing the fender down onto the tire. At that point, he called it a night. Dewaine finished 15th
Kirby was running in the 7th position when he got loose in turn one, and spun around. Jon restarted from the rear of the field, only to get caught up in a tangle that mangled the right front of his car. He pulled his car to the pits, finishing 13th.
On Saturday night, the team was in Columbus, Mississippi for the James King Memorial. It was Kirby's first ever trip to the "Baddest Bullring in the South". Twenty-Seven of the baddest late model drivers were on hand for the event.
Hottinger got off to a great start, as he turned his best qualifying lap of 14.14 around the bullring. This was good enough to set 8th fastest time overall, locking him into the Feature.
Jon Kirby had a little bit rougher start. His qualifying lap was not enough to lock him into the main, so he would have to start 7th in a "B" Main. Kirby would finish high enough in the "B" to transfer into the Feature.
With the track starting to slick up a bit, both drivers decided to race the feature with a harder tire compound. This showed to be a mistake early, as Hottinger fell out of his 8th starting position and faded to the rear. On an early caution, Hottinger decided to take his car to the pits for some tires. Jon Kirby was cruising along when he was collected in a spin early. The incident left Kirby with heavy damage to the right side of his machine. Jon took his car to the hauler, calling it a night. Kirby finished 23rd in his first visit to the speedway.
Hottinger's choice to pit for tires early, proved to be a good one. He was able to work his way back up through the field towards the top ten. By the end of the race, Dewaine had moved back up into the 8th position that he had started in. He was gaining on the sixth and seventh place cars, but ran out of laps. Hottinger would finish 8th, his best finish yet at the Columbus Speedway.
The H & K gang are going to take the next weekend off to repair their GRTs. Dewaine and Jon will be back on the track on April 25th, and 26th at the Talladega Short Track in
Talladega, AL.
Their upcoming schedule looks like this:
April 25,26 - Talladega Short Track
May 2 - Batesville Motor Speedway (MSRA)
May 3 - Poinsett County Speedway (MSRA)
