Diamond Park Speedway celebrates 20th year in operation by kicking off the 2nd season of "Race Track Round Up"
(Nashville, AR)

The fastest growing stock car racing facility in the state, Diamond Park Speedway, located between Murfreesboro and Nashville, AR will turn 20 years old this year.  The track opened in 1992 and features the fastest race surface in Arkanasas.  The 2012 offically kicked off last Thursday night with the debut of the 2nd season of the tracks weekly racing show "Race Track Round Up" with 20 year veteran announcer Andy Lockwood.  The show air's every Thursday night here on KMTB-FM 99.5 and can also be heard on the internet at www.southwestarkansasradio.com.

Racing at the speedway begins March 17th with a play day from 2:00 to 5:00 pm followed by a $ 1,200 to win 200 lap or 2 hours, whichever comes first, Enduro race from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.  Rules and an entry form for the 1st ever Diamond Enduro are available at the track's web site at www.diamondparkspeedway.  E-mail your question to dpspeedway@yahoo.com or call Lockwood at (870) 200-0341.  The track also host a play day March 24th and regular racing gets underway Saturday, March 31st with the new Novice class for kids age 12 to 15 and first year drivers.  That class will also pay this season.  Also racing will be Factory Stock, Pure Stock, Streeet Stock, Southern Stock, Diamond State Dwarf Cars. 

The complete 20th anniversary season schedule is now available at the track web site.  Lockwood, who was the track's 1st announcer in 1992 and Warren Clemons will continue to run the track just like last season when they took it over and turned it into one of the best racing facilities in the state. 

 This past winter several improvement have been made at the track including building a pond, remodeling every building including the pit concession stand, press box and the construction of a new souvier building.  Lockwood and Clemons ended last season on October 8th with a huge sprint car show which saw over 1,300 race fans at the track to see 17 of this areas best race car drivers.

For the 20th anniversary season several new events are coming in addition to several promotions from last year.  The track will have the 1st ever Miss Diamond Park Speedway pagents at the Murfreesboro High School auditorium on April 7th.  Registeration at 10:00 and the pagent starts at 11:00 with 7 age groups.  Call Peggy Crow at (870) 223-2498 or visit the track's website. 

Also new in 2012 the Late Models return to the speedway.  Former track flagman Chris Ellis bring his Comp Cams Super Dirt Late Models to Diamond Park Speedway on April 14th and August 11th. 

The biggest event this season will be held on Tuesday night, June 19th as the track presents the ASCS Sprint Car National tour for one of the Speedweeks events.  The Sprint Cars start Monday night, the 19th in Louisana and come to Nashville on Tuesday night for the only stop that week in Arkansas.  The track also welcomes the Southern Thunder Sprints for 2 shows one on May 26th and another huge event on July 21st. 

The track will once again this year present the 2nd annual Bob Burton Memorial race on July 7th and the 2nd annual Johnny Jack Hale Memorial race on September 1st.  Other returning successful promotions include the 3rd annual "Race for a Cure" event on April 28th, Fan Appreciation Night on May 12th and the Howard County Childrens Center Night on June 30th.
