Jon Henry Readies for 2013 Season by Releasing “Mean 15” Sponsors

ADA, OHIO (3/22/13) –  As Old Man Winter continues to his forge into Spring, Jon Henry is putting the final touches on his 2013 racing plans.  Next week, the Late Model hotshoe will begin to release his “Mean 15” sponsors beginning Monday, March 25.

The success of last season’s “Dirty Dozen” promotion – a group of 12 supporters who banded together to form one mega sponsorship – prompted Henry to expand the program in 2013 by adding three additional sponsors to create the “Mean 15”.

“The support I have from these people, organizations, and businesses is simply amazing,” Henry stated.  “To be able to expand this to a group of 15 is more than I could have ever asked for and is definitely a sign of great things here at Jon Henry Racing”.

Beginning Monday, March 25, Henry will randomly reveal the names of his 15 supporters – three per day over a period of five days.  The names of the sponsors will be released on Henry’s website www.jonhenryracing.com as well as the team’s facebook page www.facebook.com/jhr15.

Racing his own Late Model and a Dean Miracle-owned Modified in 2013, Henry plans to pursue an Eldora Speedway track championship in both divisions.  A tentative 2013 schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

Dowdy Opens Up Season with a Third Place at Tennessee National Raceway’s Tennessee 200

Waterloo, Al. (03/20/13) The Mark Dowdy Racing team opened up the 2013 season on an excellent note, bringing home a third place finish at Tennessee National Raceway’s (Hohenwald, TN) Tennessee 200 event on March 16th.

MDR’s debut in the new Killer Chassis put the team in the mix with the top contenders this past Friday and Saturday night as 12 other limited late model competitors signed in for the event.

In Friday nights action, Dowdy would qualify and earn the outside second row for Saturday nights 25 lap feature event in the #88D Action Track Chair/Pittman Dutton & Hellums Law Firm/Rather Sewer Inspections Services/ Killer Chassis.

Saturday night MDR would line up in the 13 car field on the outside second row in the fourth position next to the #19 of Marcus Minga. Dowdy fired off at the green and was beat to the corner by Minga. Dowdy settled in behind Minga and began to let the Killer Chassis do its work lap by lap, several laps clicked away before Dowdy could make a good clean pass on Minga. In that time the two leaders had developed a full straight away lead. The race went caution fee for the first 20 laps and Dowdy had run down the leaders and pulled alongside AJ Ferguson before the first caution fell. At the restart the trio of T.J Taylor, A.J Ferguson and Dowdy broke away from the rest of the field and the three would stay nose to tail for the remaining 5 laps putting on a great race with no contact . Dowdy would hang tight in the third position and finish behind second place AJ Ferguson and race winner TJ Taylor.

The Dowdy Welding & Fabrication/Warrior chassis/Camaro driven by Dustin Stutts had to bounce back after a rough Friday night, During the heat race the #1 car of Donald Johns made contact with the #85 of Lee Roy Hollaway sending Johns car airborne and into a series of violent flips. Dustin was at the time right next to the wreck, though he was not involved in the accident, Stutt’s car received major body damage from the car of Johns that landed on the car.

Saturday rolled around and the team of Tony Stutts, Keith Russ, Dustin Stutts & Lee Strong, had the car back together and looking good for as much damage received from Fridays heat race accident. Dustin lined up in the 9th position and raced to a 7th place finish in his first competitive laps in the Dowdy Welding & Fabrication/Warrior Chassis.

Overall it was a great start for the Mark Dowdy Racing teams 2013 Season. Next event on the calendar for the team is a Regular Show at Tennessee National Raceway (Hohenwald,Tn.) on Saturday March 23rd, 2013.
