Big Game Motorsports Picks up Two Top-10 Finishes at I-96 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (June 4, 2013) - Last weekend was a light one for Big Game Motorsports.

After Friday's World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, was postponed because of rain, the lone race on the schedule was the NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan on Saturday at I-96 Speedway.

Big Game Treestands backed Sammy Swindell qualified second quickest and the Eyecon Trail Cameras car piloted by Craig Dollansky timed in 13th quickest on the half-mile oval. It marked the third consecutive race that Swindell has qualified in the top three.

Knowing that he needed to finish in the top six of his heat race to advance to the dash, Swindell made conservative laps during his heat and finished sixth with an ill-handling car.

"The cars get quite a bit different when you're in traffic and racing with people," he said. "We tried something different in the heat and it wasn't very good. I knew all I had to do was run in the top six so it wasn't worth the risk. We tried to make a few changes for the dash and it was a little better."

The dash was inverted by six and Swindell started inside the third row. He finished sixth during a dicy race, which game him the sixth starting position for the main event.

Dollansky, who missed the heat race inversion by one spot during qualifying, also drove the Eyecon Trail Cameras car to a sixth-place finish in his heat race to advance to the feature.

After starting 13th, Dollansky dropped two positions in the first four laps before rallying. He advanced from 11th to ninth on Lap 14 and cracked the top five on Lap 16. The Eyecon Trail Cameras car passed Jason Sides for fourth place on the final lap to earn Dollansky the KSE Hard Charger Award.

"We ended up pulling ourselves out of the hole after I didn't qualify very well," he said. "It wasn't easy to pass on, but we were able to get a few cars. I was just trying to go where they weren't and a couple of restarts worked into our favor. The leaders were right there in front of us."

A rock drilled a shock and locked it up early in the feature for Swindell, who maintained a top 10 for the entire race in the Big Game Treestands car. Swindell finished eighth to earn his 17th top 10 this season.
"Our main event didn't go so good," he said. "It seemed like most of the starts I was in the wrong place. It seemed like every time I lost spots until one at the end when I gained three or four of them back."
As Big Game Motorsports prepares for a busy week with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, Swindell remains fourth in the championship standings and Dollansky is sixth.

The teams begin a stretch of four races in different states during a five-day span starting Wednesday at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind. On Friday, the series will compete at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa, for the first time since 2009 before a trip to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., on Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday with the first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., in a decade.

Bobby Labonte Racing Brings Home Third Place at Tazewell
Looks toward Prestigious "Dream 100"

Trinity, NC (June 4, 2013) - Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) posted a solid run in Friday night's Toyota Knoxville 50 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway. The team, along with driver Earl Pearson Jr., scored a third-place finish, marking its fourth top-five in 2013 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition.

Pearson Jr. was among 20 entrants in Friday night's showdown. "The Hurricane," as Pearson Jr. is known, finished Heat No. 2 in second place. The excellent showing in preliminary action gave Pearson and the BLR team a fifth place starting position in the feature.

Pearson Jr. had a great car on Friday and it showed. He raced inside the top five for the majority of the night. John Blankenship took first place and was dominant all night, holding off challenges from Jimmy Owens and Steve Francis. The BLR team was pleased with the performance of its No. 44 Longhorn Chassis.

"The car was really good this weekend," said Pearson Jr. "I never had a chance to battle for the lead, but happy with the finish and another good points weekend for the team. A performance like that gives us a lot of confidence heading into Eldora."

The team was set to head to Florence Speedway in Florence, Ky. on Saturday for another 50-lap main event. However, the race was postponed due to heavy rains Friday night and Saturday morning. Keep an eye on the website for the new race date www.bobbylabonteracing.com.

Pearson Jr. stands fifth in Lucas Oil Championship Points only 260 points away from the leader Jimmy Owens. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series takes a week off from competition and will be back in action June 14 and 15 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. The BLR team including Earl Pearson Jr. and Steve Shaver will head to Eldora Speedway this week for the "Dream 100" on Saturday, June 8th.

Dover Notches Fourth-Place Finish in First Visit of Season to Knoxville Raceway

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 4, 2013) - Jack Dover got his first taste of the season at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.

After one of his favorite events of the season - the Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals - was flooded out, Dover changed his plans to wrap up the weekend with his first visit to the famed half mile.

With qualifying tied into hot laps, Dover timed in second quickest of the 23 competitors.

"For not being there all year and just showing up running second to the local guys, it's pretty big," he said. "We put the same setup as what we had last year in the Knoxville Nationals."

Coming off his career-best fourth-place finish in the 360 Knoxville Nationals, Dover powered from sixth to fourth in his heat race to advance to the 18-lap feature. However, with an eight-car inversion, Dover started the main event on the inside of the fourth row.

After four cautions in the first three laps, Dover remained in seventh place until a restart following an open red on Lap 4.

"We put some more fuel in and changed some shock adjustments and put spacing in the rear," he said. "That helped a lot. It tightened the car a lot. It made the car a lot better in the corners."

Dover rocketed from seventh to fourth on the restart and maintained that position for the rest of the event to earn his sixth top-five finish of the season.

"The last time I ran there was nationals last year," he said. "Going there for the first time in 10 months and running fourth isn't bad. Hopefully we can get over there a couple more times before Nationals. If we don't I think we'll be in a good position."

The weekend began on Friday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan., where Dover charged from fourth to first during the opening lap of his heat race. He led all eight laps to record his fifth heat race win of the season.

Dover earned the most points of the drivers to advance to the redraw, where he pulled the No. 4 to start the 30-lap feature on the outside of the second row.

On a slick track, Dover faded to around eighth place in the first handful of laps before finding a middle groove that nobody else was utilizing. He quickly worked his way around several competitors to advance to fourth and was on the rear bumper of third-place Jason Johnson when mechanical issues forced Dover to the pits on Lap 12.

"I just tried different lines to figure out what one was the best," he said of the start. "In (turns) three and four everybody was on the bottom throwing moisture into the middle. I was just going through the moisture where nobody was running."

A broken u-joint for the second time in the last five races was the culprit and relegated Dover to a 21st-place finish.

"It just let go and when it let go I had a vibration and I pulled in," he said. "It's really, really frustrating. I definitely think we would have been a top-two car if not winning it. It's really frustrating especially when you don't know why it's happening."

Dover is slated to compete on Saturday at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints.

Hahn Records First Podium Finish of the Season at 81 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - PARK CITY, Kan. (June 4, 2013) - Brandon Hahn recorded his first podium finish of the season on Saturday at 81 Speedway.

After the Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals was flooded out, his team changed plans to complete a weekend doubleheader in Kansas.

Hahn lined up seventh in his heat race on the 3/8-mile oval.

"We were really good in hot laps, but the modified guys blew off the race track in such a hurry," he said. "I was just way too loose and couldn't go anywhere. I got one car and that's it."

After finishing sixth in his heat race, Hahn lined up sixth in the main event. Following a handful of setup changes to the car, he headed to the track for what turned out to be a wild start to the feature.

"It was chaos," he said. "The first start was a false start. The second start some guy flipped. And then I think we made one lap and another guy flipped. The fourth restart I passed two cars getting into (turn) one and that was it. In the A Feature we had a much better car. I could actually drive it hard and keep my momentum up."

He rallied to finish a season-best third in only his second appearance at 81 Speedway.

The weekend started on Friday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Salina Speedway in nearby Salina, where Hahn struggled to find grip on the slick track. He faded from fourth to seventh in his heat race, which put him toward the back of the feature.

"I couldn't come off of (turn) two to save my life," he said of his heat race. "I could get into one and hold my speed through the middle of the corner, but I'd be so loose coming off two. We went backwards. They all got me coming out of two."

Starting 21st in the main event, Hahn's team made several changes to tighten the setup as the track became more slick with each lap.

"We tightened it up a whole bunch," he said. "I could finally keep my speed up and not just get my doors blown off. That's where I personally think I need the most improvement is with the slicker race tracks and the throttle control. I need to work on all areas, but slick race tracks are my kryptonite."

Hahn finished 18th and he advanced to 10th in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour standings.

He is taking this weekend off before the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Speedweek, which features six races in nine days, begins Friday, June 14, at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas.

Mark Burch Motorsports and Danny Lasoski Record Third Consecutive Podium Finish

Inside Line Promotions - SALINA, Kan. (June 4, 2013) - For the first trip to Salina Speedway, Mark Burch Motorsports had a very good showing.

After drawing a high pill on Friday to line up sixth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race, Danny Lasoski powered into a runner-up finish.

"If you would look at the lineup in the heat race we thought we had our work cut out for us," he said. "As usual, Mark had the car set up great. If your car was good you could run the top, bottom and middle.
"We found some places on the race track that we thought would come to us for the A Main."

The performance in the heat race gave the team enough points to advance to the redraw, where Mark Burch Motorsports plucked the highest number possible - eight - to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the feature. The track was also reworked, changing the team's strategy prior to the 30-lap main event.
Lasoski battled between fifth and ninth place for most of the first half of the feature before the car started to come to life.

"I'll take 100 percent of the blame," he said. "We were just a little sparing on the car as far as how tight to get it. We were a little too loose. My car wouldn't square up and drive forward soon enough."

Car owner Mark Burch also accepted full blame for not reading the track after it was changed.

"I will take 100 percent of the responsibility for not having the right setup on the car," he said. "We gave away an opportunity for another win."

As the track became more slick each lap, Lasoski maneuvered his way into the top three in the final 10 laps before closing on Seth Bergman and Logan Forler, who were running first and second, respectively.
With Bergman and Forler committed to the bottom line, which had the most grip, Lasoski tried through the middle and briefly passed Forler for the runner-up position before losing it in traffic with a couple of laps remaining.

"They were definitely in the preferred line," Lasoski said. "It was our job to find a place to get by them. I thought on the white flag lap we had a shot to get by them."

Lasoski drove to the high side in turns one and two and dove to the bottom entering turn three, but was unable to get by as Bergman narrowly held off Forler with Lasoski in tow.

It marked the third consecutive podium finish for Mark Burch Motorsports.
