Wyatt Out Runs The Field At Crossville

Crossville, TN (April 12, 2014) - The gates opened wide at Crossville Raceway on Saturday night, as the 2014 racing season got off to a big start. The fans that were on hand, was treated to some good dirt track racing. It was also a night of rememberance, as track owner Buddy Sheehan was memorialized in a special ceremony during the intermission.
 
The Late Model class started the season off in not so grand style as initial fast qualifier, #90 Mark Martin's time, was disqualified for soft tires. This made Crossville's #5J Jesse Lowe the fast qualifier with a lap of 12.86. Heat #1 saw Lowe take the win over #8P Ronnie Choate Jr. and Martin. #17 Brett Wyatt won heat race #2, with #J1 Johnny Phillips finishing in second and #66 Tony Nickles rounding out the top 3. The 25-lap feature started with Wyatt outgunning Lowe to turn 1. Martin powered into third, Choate Jr. in fourth, and #20 Mike Selby running in fifth. Martin started pressuring Lowe for second after only a few laps. On lap 18, Martin got by Lowe for second. Up front, Wyatt, from Crossville, had built a comfortable lead, and he cruised to the win. Martin and Lowe finished second and third. Choate finished fourth, and Selby rounded out the top five.
 
The Sportsman class saw Crossville's #1 Joey Whittenburg hold off an extreme challenge by #14W Chris Whitted, for the win. #21 Daniel Young was third and #24D Doug Gordon finished fourth. Whittenberg won the heat race.
 
In the Street Stock class #27 Dwayne Fox won heat race #1, and dominated the feature in the first race of the year in this class. #B4 Darrin Busler finished second, #16R Robert Stone was third, #A93 Nathan Adams fourth, and #31B Willie Busler rounded out the top five. #78 Barry Martin won heat race #2.
 
The Mod Lite class saw #12 John Stout set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 14.75. The feature turned out to be a caution filled event, with Stout staying clean for the win. Second was #07 Trey Taylor, #34 Dustin Benton was third, #7 Jerry Hagewood fourth, and #3C Jason Carter rounded out the top five. Stout and Benton won the heat races.
 
Lenoir City's #25 Derik Duggan took the lead on lap 16 and never looked back as he took the win in the Hornet class. #C01 Cody Brun was second, #18 Jim Johnson was third, #52 Dan Duggan fourth, and #5K Kealey Lowe rounded out the top five. The heat races were won by Brun and #A93 Nick Adams.
 
In the Legends class, #10 Brian Bourke won the heat race to start start on the pole for the feature. The feature saw #18 Jim Bourke take the lead away from Brian Bourke on lap 4, and lead the rest of the laps to pick up the win. #26 Tommy Fitzgerald finished second, Brian Bourke was third, and #32 Stev Radasso was fourth.
The Dwarf class saw #T65 Todd Spivey and #65 Joseph Underwood win the heat races. Spivey took the lead at the start, but on lap 4, Underwood took over the lead and sailed to his first win of the season. #22 Jonathan Allen finished second, #15 Larry Garrison was third, #5 Cody Garrison fourth, and #77 Ty Bowman rounded out the top five.
 
The Jr. Hornets saw #N90 Lucas Presley lead all 12 laps for the feature win. #25JR Colton Akins finished second, #H95 Hunter Wither was third, #74 Cameron Dixon fourth, and #52 Austin Roberts rounded out the top five.
